As shared by insider and journalist Joe Merrick on Twitter, The Pokemon Company has recently filed trademarks for two products called “Black Volt and White Flare,” which heavily link to the Unova games. However, because these titles do not include the word Pokemon before them, they are more likely newPokemon TCGsets rather thanBlack and Whiteremakes. Moreover, these trademarks were filed along with a third one named “Hot Air Arena,” a title more befitting a TCG. Fans should also remember thatPokemon Legends: Z-Ais coming in 2025, so Unova remakes are probably not Game Freak’s main priority. On the other hand, players should still see these trademarks as a good omen.

Pokemon Trademarks Hint at Black and White Comeback

ReleasingBlack and WhiteTCG sets may be a strategy to shift the focus toward Gen 5, even whenPokemonis preparing forLegends: Z-A.
