PDP’s newest line of controllers, called Realmz, has added another entry to its ranks, and it may be the most popular one yet. The PDP Realmz Minecraft Switch Controller almost immediately sold out, but is ready to be restocked in just a few days. Amazon is accepting orders again, though the Minecraft controller has already been marked as “low stock”.
Undoubtedly, the announcement of the Minecraft movie played a role in the new PDP controller selling out, but even with themass of negative reactionsto the trailer,Minecraft gear is always popularwith gamers. Plus, PDP is known for producingquality controllers for those on a budget. With their Realmz controllers, PDP has gone a step further, embedding detailed scenes on top of their controller’s electronics, creating a line of visually dynamic gamepads.
The Minecraft version of the controller features a hilly scene filled with bees, a fox, and, naturally, creepers. Additionally, there is a diamond armor-clad Steve wielding a golden sword featured in the left handle of the controller, complete with a shiny, metallic finish. Some players will get a super rare drop controller when they buy this, too, with a 1-in-6 chance of users getting a unique mob designed controller rather than the Steve one. The buttons on the controller continue the theme of the displayed landscape, with brown buttons, green joysticks, and blue triggers matching the embedded background.
As a gamepad, this PDP controller has a suite of decent features that will power any player through hours of Minecraft. The contoured sides and textured back offers a comfortable grip, while a 30-foot wireless range makes it easy to play from the couch. Plus, the Minecraft Realmz controller has a long-lasting, built-in battery that supports up to 40 hours of gameplay before needing a recharge. There are even some LED lights inside the controller to give it an even more aesthetic look while playing.
