These skins aren’t the only thing fans can earn during this event. Four player icons – golden portraits of Mauga, Venture, and Juno, along with a 2024 anniversary icon – can be obtained throughout the weeks, plus a Juno keychain spray, and the Hero of 2024 title. Beyond that, fans can earn a total of 38,000 Battle Pass experience by completing these challenges. This can help players complete nearly four tiers ontheOverwatch 2Season 12 Battle Pass, which ends at the same time as the anniversary event.
During each week, a couple of differentOverwatch 2Arcade game modes from the past yearare available. Battle of the Beasts and Community Crafted are available in week one, Cosmic Crisis and April Fools 2024 are active in week two, and Mirrorwatch and Prop Hunt are playable in the final week. Playing these game modes is a great way to earn progress on the event challenges, so fans should be sure to partake while they can.
That said, some players are disappointed in this year’s anniversary event.Overwatch 2did little to hype up the celebration, and hasn’t introduced anything new during it – all the skins are existing Legendary cosmetics from the in-game store, and there isno Overwatch Credits shop like there was last year. While the chance to get free stuff inOverwatch 2is always appreciated, many fans were expecting something more exciting. Hopefully,Overwatch 2’s events for the holiday season will be able to compensate.
