St Garling Figarland was confirmed to be a member of the Five Elders in One Piece chapter 1125. This change came out of absolutely nowhere, but, in the grand scheme of things, it certainly does make sense. The basis for a new Elder position opening up was the failure of Saint Jaygarcia Saturn on Egghead. Fans know that Saturn was sent to Egghead to kill Vegapunk, destroy his satellites, and of course, secure the factory, all the while claiming York to be one of his subordinates so that she could rise to the position of Celestial Dragon. Saint Saturn certainly did complete half of his mission. With the massive force that he had at his disposal, he was easily able to crush whatever manpower there was present on Egghead. However, he did not take into consideration the power of the Straw Hat Pirates, and because of that, his job was only half done.

He did manage to kill Stella, but not all the other Vegapunks were dead. Similarly, Kuma and Bonney both managed to survive, and at the same time, Joy Boy managed to escape as well. To compound his failures even more, Vegapunk’s message was transmitted to all over the world, and now, the deepest secrets of the World Government are already out. All this was made possible because of Luffy, and as a result, there had to be punishment for this. While Saturn certainly couldn’t have done much, Imu did not care. As a result, Saturn was essentially killed by Imu in the most vicious of ways, and with that, the Five Elders had an opening in their ranks.
Saturn’s death essentially confirmed that a new member of the Five Elders would now be presented to the fans, and much to their surprise, it wasnone other than Saint Garling Figarland. He was seen walking into the Room of Authority, which is where the Elders take residence. There, he sat alongside the other Elders, and now, he’s planning for the war that is to come here in the future of One Piece.
Will Garling Figarland Gain Immortality?
Garling Figarland Is Sure To Power Up Even More From Here Onwards
Of course,now that Garling Figarland Is an Elder, fans are wondering whether he will gain Immortality or not. The answer to this question is quite a complicated one, and it is also something that fans cannot accurately predict. However, there are many interesting ways that Oda can tackle this problem. One thing that fans know is that all the Elders were once just human, because they were part of the Founding 20, and they did not have special powers. These powers were bestowed upon them and this was proven in One Piece chapter 1125. Essentially, Imu stripped the powers of immortality from Saturn, which is why he suddenly started getting old and in the end, became just a skeleton.
Saturn was turned to his real age at the end of things, which suggests that it was Imu who bestowed the power of immortality on him. If Imu was the one who gave him immortality and, in the end, took immortality from him, then there is absolutely no reason to doubt that he can give it to another person as well. Essentially, this would mean that Imu could give immortality to Saint Garling Figarland as well, which would essentially strengthen him even further and make him a powerful foe for anyoneto face in the final SagaOne Piece.

Oda can also take this in a different direction. Perhaps, there was a reason why Imu was able to give immortality to the Elders and this was only possible during the Void Century. If Oda does go down that route, then Garling will not get immortality, but, in exchange, he will remain to be the most unique Elder. He will not have the luxury of taking as much damage as possible, but instead, he will be more deft. His skills will make up for it in a way where he shines in other aspects of battle, and fans might as well want it to be that way. That said, the chances of Saint Garling gaining immortality are much higher and could just be the likelier outcome.
How Strong Is Garling Figarland?
Garling Figarland Is Likely Stronger Than The Yonko
St Garling Figarland is already one of the strongest characters inOne Piece. This shouldn’t be doubted by any fan. 38 years ago, he becamethe Champion of God Valley, and even to this day, he carries fame from long ago. This is essentially confirmation of the fact that Garling Figarland is in a completely different league when compared to the other Celestial Dragons, aside from the Five Elders. Furthermore, fans know that he is Shanks’s dad, which is further proof of the fact that he is very strong. He was seen taking up arms against the Roger Pirates and the Rocks pirates on God Valley, and the fact that he managed to survive is proof of his strength. Furthermore, Saint Garling most likely has a very powerful Devil Fruit as well, given that he won the Native Hunting Games, and the reward for winning the games was powerful Devil Fruits.
His Haki is likely tremendously powerful, as implied by the connection with Shanks, and at the same time, he has potentially a very overpowered Devil Fruit. It is safe to say that Saint Garling Figarland is already on the level of the Yonko. This also fits portrayal-wise, given that he’s the leader of the God’s Knights and is drawn in parallel to Dragon,the leader of the Revolutionary Army. Fans know that these two units are going to fight soon, and Dragon’s very own opponent is going to be none other than Garling Figarland. Of course, this confrontation is likely not going to happen anymore due to his promotion to Five Elders, but the portrayal certainly does exist.
On top of everything that Garling has, if one adds the power of immortality, then, they get a figure even stronger than the Yonko in One Piece.
