This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Egghead Arc.

Summary

One Piecechapter 1125 revealed quite a lot of exciting developments in the story to the fans, and, quite easily, the most shocking event that took place during this chapter was the death of one of the members of the Five Elders, namely, St Jaygarcia Saturn. Saturn was properly introducedin the series’s Egghead arc, and he played the role of the main antagonist here as well. In this arc, many fans had expected him to fall, but not in the way that he did. He fought against Luffy and many other pirates on Egghead, and, while he certainly did get overwhelmed on certain occasions, he was able to outlast Luffy in battle, and, as such, it was clear for the fans to see that he was a force that the Straw Hat pirate could not take on.

After Luffy and the Straw Hats escaped Egghead and sailed towards Elbaf, fans knew that the aftermath of the arc was now on the horizon, and that the Marines and the Elders were going to be seen soon enough in the story. That is precisely what happened inOne Piecechapter 1125, as fans finally got to see Saturn and the other Elders deal with the consequences of the events on Egghead. For Saturn, the consequences were dire, because he ended up losing his life, and a new and younger Elder was chosen in his stead. And while this was certainly a shocking event, it might not be the first time that the story has seen a new Elder being elected.

The Age Of All The Five Elders Was Recently Confirmed In One Piece

One Piecechapter 1125 essentiallyconfirmed that the Five Elders were Immortal. Throughout the Egghead Island Arc, the performance of the Elders made it quite clear to the fans that they held incredible powers up their sleeve. Above all, they simply couldn’t die. Regardless of what Luffy threw their way, or what other pirates did to them, be it being slashed across the chest or being blown to smithereens, the elders simply regenerated in a moment’s notice, and this ability was so powerful that even Luffy, despite having Gear 5, essentially gave up and decided to run from them instead. This was the fans’ first hint of the fact that the Elders were essentially immortal. With time, fans got another confirmation through Vegapunk’s cover story, where, even 40 years ago, the Elders looked just like they do today. This was once again proof of the fact that the Elders were essentially immortal.

If all this was not enough for the fans, however, then, One Piece chapter 1125 went out of its way to essentially confirm that the Elders truly managed to live for centuries upon centuries. In the chapter, fans gota flashback from St. Jaygarcia Saturn, and this flashback dates back to 200 years ago. This was around the time the Iron Giant attacked Marijoa, and it was Saturn who gave the scientists back then permission to study the giant to make it a big asset to the World Government.

Of course, this move backfired greatly and allowed the Pirates to escape, which consequently led to the death of Saturn. Regardless, the key detail over here was that Saturn was alive 200 years ago and looked just as he does today. This essentially confirms that all the Elders are Immortal and that they most certainly fought during the Void Century in the war against Joy Boy as well.

Saint Ju Peter Might Be Young For A Reason

All the Elders in One Piece are old characters. St Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro is a bald old man with tremendous ability. Saint Marcus Mars looks like an old man as well, as does St Topman Warcury, and, of course, Saint Jaygarcia Saturn as well. However, there is an odd one out here. The only Elder who isn’t old is St Shepherd Ju Peter. Up until now, his appearance might have been inconsequential, however, with the recent events taking place in One Piece, such as the death of Saint Saturn, fans are beginning to wonder whether Ju Peter was an original Elder at all.

Ju Peter appears to be the youngest of the lot, and this is quite confusing to many fans. Perhaps, Ju Peter was one of the youngest Kingsduring the Void Centurywhen he collaborated with the others and decided to fight against Joy Boy. However, this war was 100 years long. If Ju Peter was 100, he would have been old just like the other Elders and then, with Imu’s powers, would have maintained his immortality up until now. But, Ju Peter clearly looks younger, which implies that there might actually have been an Elder before him. As to what happened to that Elder,One Piecechapter 1125 essentially confirmed it to the fans.

Saturn was killed by Imu inOne Piecechapter 1125. Essentially, Imu utilized his powerful Haki, along with his other abilities to suck the life energy out of Saturn. Perhaps, it could also simply be Imu taking away the immortality from Saturn. Something similar could have happened to the previous Elder for his failing during the Void Century or towards its end. Essentially, the idea is that the former member of the Five Elders failed Imu in some way and was made to pay for it dearly. The one to replace him was none other than Saint Shepherd Ju Peter, which is why he is as young as he is.

Who Could’ve Been The Former Elder Before Ju Peter?

The Former Elder Could’ve Been A Unique Family

St. Shepard Ju Peter might just have been an original Elder, but in case he wasn’t, there was someone else in his stead. As to who this person was, fans truly cannot say. This is because this person was from the Founding 20, which fans do not know much about. There are only ten families from the Founding 20 that the fans know the names of,they include the Nefertari family as well, which this person could most certainly not have been a part of. That leaves the families of the Five Elders, the Figarland Family, the Donquixote Family, and the Nerona Family.

The world is in turmoil! Let’s work together to make it a better place, fellow Elders! – Garling Figarland

Of course, Imu belongs to the Nerona family, which leaves the other two, these being the Manmeyer family, and the Donquixote Family. It is highly likelythat the Donquixote familyhad nothing to do with it, which leaves behind the Manmeyer Family. Perhaps, the former Elder was from this family and was eventually killed. Or, it could be any other family from the remaining 10 that fans do not know anything about.

At this point, Oda can essentially go either way. Of course, there having been a former Elder before Ju Peter is not confirmed, but, given his younger appearance compared to the other Elders, it does certainly make one wonder as to why that is the case and this would be a possible answer.
