This booze has left fans of theOne Pieceseries wondering if the Straw Hats are truly hallucinating or if something else is going on. While inconclusive, the various consistent inconsistencies have led many to believe that they’re truly hallucinating, and their hallucinations contain many humorous moments typical of the series during the pre-time skip arcs.
The Giants’ Brew
A Recipe For Chaos
What exactly is the Giants’ brew? So far, no one knows the answer to this question, as the only hints are the name and its supposed effects. TheGiants are a legendary racein theOne Pieceseries that has hardly been explored. Due to their mysterious and larger-than-life nature, it’s only normal for them to possess some unique brew. However, the effects of the Green Fairy may be a tad too much for the Straw Hats.
Interestingly, Absinthe is a unique liquor that’s historically described as a “highly alcoholic spirit” in the real world. This drink of legends that Oda has given to the giants is largely known to be a hallucinogen. As seen with the supposedhallucinations of the Straw Hats, hallucinogens induce “altered states of consciousness,“which fits nicely into what the Straw Hats are facing rather than simply describing them as seeing what is not. In real life, Absinthe is derived from a “Grand Wormwood,” a plant. In the One Piece world, this makes it highly plausible that the Giant’s brew was gotten from the towering tree Yggdrasil. Yggdrasil, known literally as the World Tree, has yet to be extensively explored in the series, but it is seen in the hallucinations of the Straw Hats. As typical of Oda, One Piece’s writer seems to be foreshadowing and dropping hints about Elbaf before the Straw Hats land on the island.

Hallucinations And Humorous Moments
While fans patiently wait for the current events in the One Piece world to unfold, fans enjoy the many critical and humorous events that have come about with the supposed hallucinations. Oda is known to be highly detailed in his work; however, Chapter 1127 of the series portrays inconsistencies and unique architecture. The very castle Nami wakes up in seems to be made of Lego. Eiichiro Oda is known to be a fan of Lego, though it’s unlikely for him to ever incorporate such into theOne Pieceseries. At least, that’s what many thought before the recentOne Piecechapter.
In terms of inconsistencies, Luffy is seen without his straw hat, a very pivotal accessory to the Straw Hat Captain. Despite thevarious outfits he’s wornin theOne Pieceseries, he’s always seen with his straw hat, even if it’ll be underneath a hat he’ll be wearing. However, this time around, Luffy is seen only in giant-like clothing without his precious hat. Moreover, one of the biggest telltale signs is the Straw Hat Captain announcing “Gear Fourth” but using a Gear Third attack.
Aside from the many inconsistencies and speculations, Chapter 1127 is a great one. The chapter perfectly recaptures humorous moments similar to those inOne Piece’spre-time skip. Nami and Usopp’s duo is also seen as they bicker while on the verge of death. Usopp believing he’s hallucinating and allowing the monster cat to strike him is downright hilarious. Additionally, Nami decides to kick Usopp while he’s down and uses him as a shield from the monster cat who turns into a lion and proclaims him dead shortly after the Monster Trio arrives. Meanwhile, like always, Nami and Usopp run and bicker for their lives whilethe Monster Trio “take it in stride,”looking for a way to cook and eat the monsters. Overall, the chapter relives many humorous moments that the series is known for. With the recent Wano and Egghead arcs that have come with a lot of suspense, this serves as a breather for fans.
The Role Of The Giants’ Brew
A Possible Foreshadowing
Chapter 1127 is undoubtedly humorous, but like always, fans of theOne Pieceseries want to get to the bottom of the mystery, particularly the Hallucinogenic Giants’ brew. Usually, arcs like this, which are similar tothe Ocean’s Dream arc, Warship Island arc, and G8 arc, are often filler. However, filler episodes are only incorporated in theOne Pieceanime series and not the manga, ruling out the possibility of this being purely a filler arc.
Alternatively, some believe that the supposed hallucinations of the Straw Hats may not be due to just the Giant’s brew but Loki, the Prince of Elbaf himself. After all, why use a name belonging to a God of Mischief without incorporating mischief itself? Very little is known about Loki, aside from the fact that he’s the Prince of Elbaf, who wanted to marryinto the Big Mom family. With his exalted position, Loki may as well be the perpetrator of recent events, hypnotizing the pirates right as they entered Elbaf.
So far, the Giants brew has been used to portray humor in relation to the straw hat pirates while also introducing fans to many terms, such as Yggdrasil and a Mighty Ear God, a way for Oda to incorporate and foreshadow important events and histories.
