One Piece’sFinal Saga continues with great intensity, and fans know that here, all the major wars are finally going to go down. This is the Saga where Oda will finally settle things for good, and a Pirate King will be declared. With that, the Great War that is to come against the Government is going to be triggered as well, and fans know that they have a lot of exciting things to look forward to.
Before the war against the World Government begins, however, a major war is looking likely to happen and this war concerns none other thanone of the Four Emperors of the Sea, Blackbeard. Fans know that Blackbeard was greatly involved in the previous war that happened before the timeskip as well, also known as the Summit War. This time around, he finds himself at the center of things once again, and looking ready to trigger yet another war.
How A Massive Capture Led To The Summit War In One Piece
The Summit War happened before the timeskip ofOne Piece. This was the war that essentially marked the end to the first part of the story, and it essentially began with Blackbeard killing one of his own crewmates and stealing the Yami Yami no Mi from him. Blackbeard murdered the 4th Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Thatch, in cold blood, and this murder eventually led to Ace chasing him down to the earth’s end. When Ace fought Blackbeard, he realized that he could not turn back anymore, because Blackbeard had even more sinister plans lined up. Essentially,Blackbeard wanted to capture Luffy, who had taken down Crocodile and at the same time, attacked Enies Lobby, and hand him over to the World Government. By doing so, he wanted to secure a Shichibukai position for himself, which he wanted to go ahead with the next step in his grand scheme.

to protect Luffy, Ace had to take a stand, and he decided to fight against Blackbeard with all his might. Clearly, Ace was more than just a match for Blackbeard. He was able to showcase his incredible powers, and injure not just Blackbeard, but his entire crew at the same time. Blackbeard took severe damage in this fight, as did Ace. However, at the end of things, the mystery surrounding Blackbeard’s race, and at the same time, the incredible powers of the Yami Yami no Mi essentially saw to it that Ace was defeated. He was then handed over to the Government, which, to them, was an unbelievable deal.
This was simply down to the fact that the World Government had been wanting to capture Ace due to his link to the Pirate King, Gol D Roger. The government realized quite late that Roger had a living child, and that this person was none other than Ace. Eventually, Ace had his execution set up and the Summit War began. Whitebeard Pirates and their 41 allies attacked the Marine HQ, and utterly decimated it. At the end of the war, Ace ended up giving his life, which was saved successfully, to protect his brother, Luffy, and succumbed in war. Whitebeard, the legendary Yonko, who showcased his tremendous might on Marineford, also succumbed. Shanks put an end to the war, and with that, the first half of One Piece was officially over.
How Garp’s Capture Could Trigger A Major War
Garp Finds Himself In A Position Similar To Ace
Just like how Ace’s capture triggered a major war in One Piece, now,Garp finds himself in a similar situation. It appears that Garp’s capture on the Pirate Island could lead to a much bigger war as well. As fans know, Ace attacked Blackbeard and eventually decided not to turn away from the battle because he wanted to protect his little brother, Luffy. Similarly, Garp attacked the Pirate Island to protect his protege, and could not turn back from this battle, just like Ace could not turn back from his. Garp stayed behind and rescued Koby successfully, but in exchange, had to give himself up. This was a direct mirror to how Ace gave his life to essentially protect Luffy.

Blackbeard clearly stated to Luffy in Impel Down that he should be thanking Ace because had it not been for him, the one who would currently be on the execution platform would be none other than Luffy himself. Garp did the same thing. He took Koby’s place, and now, he is a pawn in Blackbeard’s game.
As for what Blackbeard wants to do, fans have the answer lined up already. Blackbeard wants to trade Garp with the World Government and essentially demand country status for Hachinosu. He wants Hachinosu to be officially recognized as a country, with him being declared as its King. This would mean that a pirate such as Blackbeard would be allowed to attend the Reverie, and rule like a normal King in theOne Pieceworld would. Clearly, the World Government cannot allow for this to happen. In Blackbeard’s mind, they have to do something because the exchange that he offers is the life of the greatest Marine of all time, and a symbol of peace. If something were to happen to Garp, the reputation of the Navy would be in tatters.
That is precisely why Blackbeard thinksthat the World Government will essentially take the deal. However, this can backfire greatly. The World Government can also take this as a declaration of war. They cannot bow down to a pirate’s wishes, because, then, they would look weak in the face of the world. That is precisely why the World Government will likely launch an attack on the Pirate Island to rescue Garp. This would be the opposite of what happened in the Paramount War. Back then, it was the pirates who attacked the Marines in an attempt to secure the life of a pirate. This time around, it is the Marines who will be attacking the Pirate Island, and their goal will be to secure the life of none other than Garp. Things are going to get messy, but at the same time, they will get incredibly exciting.
The Result Of The Upcoming Major War
The Marines Might Lose The Upcoming Major War Against The Blackbeard Pirates
It is incredibly difficult to predict who will win the upcoming major war inOne Piecethat is going to go down on the Pirate Island.Marineford was a major war, and the upcoming war is going to be somewhat similar. In fact, if things continue down the same route, and Oda plays with the same themes that he did in the Paramount War Arc, then, Garp will likely give up his life for someone like Koby, or perhaps someone else will die in the upcoming War to come.
At the same time, the Pirate Island will be in absolute tatters,and Blackbeard will be called into action himself. The Marines won the Paramount war, which would set them up for failure in the upcoming war of protecting and rescuing Garp. Perhaps, that is what Oda wants to do, or, perhaps there is a surprise lined up for the fans.
