This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Egghead Arc.
Summary
Cyborg Frankyis a member of the Straw Hat Piratesand quite easily one of the most exciting characters that fans have seen inOne Piece. Introduced in the Water 7 Arc, fans knew Franky to be an antagonist in the early parts of the story. However, as the story progressed towards Enies Lobby, Franky found himself helping the Strawhat Pirates, and ever since then, he became a permanent part of the crew.
In the Water 7 Arc, fans got to see Franky’s flashback as well. It is safe to say that this was one of the most moving parts of the story, especially because Franky suffered quite a bit as a kid. Oda has a penchant for writing incredibly touching stories, and he certainly did so with the character of Franky. However, despite having his backstory being revealed to the fans, little was known about his parents until recently, as Oda seemingly confirmed in a Vivre Card entry who Franky’s true father is.
Everything Oda Revealed About Franky’s Past
Franky’s flashback inOne Pieceis quite an interesting one, especially because it covers a very important time in his life, which he spent with Tom. Fans know that Franky did his apprenticeship under him, and learned to make all sorts of exciting ships. To him, Tom was the most important person in his life, but, unfortunately, he was eventually killed for something that wasn’t even a crime. Just as Tom was dear to Franky, the reverse was also true. Interestingly, there was a flashback within this flashback, where Tom thought back to when Franky showed up on Water 7, two years prior to his sentence. Around this time, Franky was about 10 years of age and he clearly mentioned that he was kicked out of his parents' pirate ship. Fans know for a fact that his parents were essentially pirates, and that he was abandoned by them.
Fans also know thatFranky was originally from the South Blue. These were all the hints about Franky’s past that were revealed to the fans in the flashback. Everything else fans saw in the flashback was concerning him, and Tom’s workers. This is the part of the story that is truly relevant about Franky’s life, and in the grand scheme of things, his past with his parents is inconsequential. However, it is still extremely interesting for the fans to see who his true parents were, and now, it appears that Oda has finally provided an answer.
How Queen’s Information Matches Franky’s Past
Queen Might Be The One Who Abandoned Franky
In the latest Vivre Card entry for Queen, Oda has now revealed that he is Franky’s father. Of course, this is not an explicit confirmation of the fact that these two are related, but, essentially, every bit of information about these two individuals matches, which simply confirms that they are related. For one, fans know that Queen is a scientist and has always been one. Franky always had a fascination with science and developing weapons right from the get-go. In fact, when Tom met Franky for the first time, he was developing weapons across the shores of Water 7. Every single day during his apprenticeship with Tom, he continued making these weapons, and once again, it just goes to show that whatever his past was consisted of him making weapons. Of course this is not enough to conclude that Franky and Queen are related.
The interesting part is that Oda revealed in the latest Vivre Card that Queen is 56 right now. He also revealed that Kaido offered him a position in his crew a long time ago, and eventually, he ended up accepting the offer. However, before that, Queen had a child. Around 36 years ago, Queen became a father, at the age of 20, and for a significant portion of his life from there onwards, he stayed with him. However, 10 years later, Queen abandoned the child and went on to continueon his journey as a pirate with Kaido.
When one compares this to Franky, it matches perfectly. Franky is currently 36 years of age, which is the same amount of years ago that Queen had a child. Franky was 10 years old when Tom found him on the shore of Water 7 and he stated that he was abandoned by a pirate. The Vivre Card states that 10 years after becoming a father, Queen abandoned his child to become a pirate with Kaido. Clearly, the person being spoken of is none other than Franky.
Is Queen Franky’s Father?
Queen Is Most Likely The Father That Left Behind Franky
While there is not an explicit statement from Oda that states that Queen is Franky’s father, the connection is enough for the fans to come to the conclusion that this is indeed the case. Fans don’t always have to be spoon-fed information from the author in order to draw connections, and this case is very similar. Queen is truly Franky’s father, and this might be bizarre for many fans to believe for many reasons, but, it is, at this point, a fact. Given all the connections that these two characters have and the timeline that fits perfectly, there is absolutely no way that they are not related.
Furthermore, if one needs to look beyond the facts that Oda mentioned in the Vivre Card, they can also look at their personalities. Queen and Franky are both similar in terms of their style. For one, fans so Queen being a lover of dancing. Franky almost always loves to break out in dances, and, in fact, his introduction in Water 7 was a dance, just like Queen in Wano.Queen loves to create weapons, as does Franky.Of course, Queen doesn’t share a love for ships, But, the fact that they are both almost like scientists only further solidifies the idea.
Many fans have rightfully pointed out that this was a missed opportunity for Wano. Queen and Franky could have had a very exciting confrontation in Wano, and fans would have absolutely loved to see them fight at some point. However, unfortunately, this never happened. In fact, fans did not even get to see Queen and Franky exchange a dialogue. But, often, that is how Oda works, as he loves to reveal these seemingly exciting bits of information in Vivre Cards and shock the fans.
Still, it is possible that fans might not have seen the last of Queen. He is alive andwas last seen being dealt with by Admiral Greenbull in Wano.If he does return at some point later down the line, perhaps he can meet Franky and these two can have a conversation, and at the same time, a confrontation as well. This would certainly make up for Oda’s errors in Wano, and fans would rejoice as well.
