Summary
Without Marines, pirates would be the dominant force inOne Piece. The people serving the organization go to great lengths to ensure pirates do not wreak havoc around the world. Obviously, some Marines are more dedicated to the cause and put more effort into their work.
Unfortunately, their actions don’t always get recognized. The higher-ups can be biased, and they can easily turn a blind eye to the accomplishments of a soldier if they want. With that in mind, here are some Marines who should get a promotion for their deeds.
7Kujaku
Current Rank: Rear Admiral
Kujaku is the granddaughter of Tsuru, who is a legendary Marine. Kujaku is intrepid and is hardly bothered by challenges. She is confident in her abilities, which is why she doesn’t hesitate to undertake risky missions.
Kujaku possesses the Muchi Muchi no Mi,a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. The power is tied to her whip. Once a person is hit by an attack, they will inevitably become subservient to Kujaku, following her every command. This ability is not limited to living beings; even inanimate things like buildings can be turned into obedient slaves. Kujaku was instrumental in Koby’s rescue in Hachinosu. So she has proven that she deserves a promotion.
6Prince Grus
Prince Grus is part of the newer generation of Marines. He is one of the few young Marines who have proven themselves capable of handling tough situations. Grus was first introduced in a cover story involving Bege’s family. However, his proper debut came in the Egghead arc.
Prince Grus is a talented combatant, as evidenced by his performance in Hachinosu, where he helped Garp rescue Koby. Grus utilized his Gunyo Gunyo no Mi to create clay golems to both attack anddistract the pirates on Hachinosu. While Grus is immensely talented, he might have to work a bit more to become a Vice Admiral.
5Bogard
Current Rank: Unknown
Bogard is the right-hand man of Monkey D. Garp. He has been part of the organization for decades and there is no doubt that he is loyal to the Marines. Bogard has not been involved in too many fights, but he has a ton of experience. He knows his limits, and he doesn’t charge recklessly without thinking.
Bogard’s rank is unclear, due to which it is assumed that he is at least an Ensign. If that is the case, Bogard certainly deserves to be a Rear Admiral or at least a Commodore. With the story rapidly moving towards its conclusion, it won’t be long before fans learn Bogard’s true strength and rank.
4Rosinante
Last Known Rank: Commander
Donquixote Rosinante was the son of Homing. Unlike his brother, Rosinante was kind and caring. He was aware that Doflamingo was going down a path of destruction, so he decided to stop him by going undercover. Rosinante joined the Marines and went back to Doflamingo to monitor his activities.
Rosinante was excellent at his job, and his Devil Fruit played a crucial role in helping him fool his brother and the rest of the crew. Rosinante’s Nagi Nagi no Mi nullified the surrounding sound, making it perfect for his ruse. Rosinante gained all the crucial details related to Doflamingo, and the latter would have never found out if it weren’t for Vergo. At the time of his death, Rosinante was just a Commander. A man of his caliber should have been at least a Captain.
3X-Drake
X-Drakeis the Captain of SWORD, a top-secret organization within the Marines. For years, he stayed undercover and made everyone believe that he was a Supernova, aiming to become a big-time pirate. X-Drake successfully infiltrated the Beasts Pirates to learn more about the Yonko’s plans and inform his fellow SWORD members about them.
X-Drake possesses the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Allosaurus. It is an Ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into an Allosaurus. It boosts his physical attributes considerably, enabling him to fight stronger enemies without any problems. X-Drake is currently a Rear Admiral, but a promotion is certainly on the cards.
2Koby
Current Rank: Captain
At the time of his introduction, no one would have predicted that Koby would become one of the most underrated One Piece characters. He joined the Marines after Luffy rescued him from the clutches of Alvida. Subsequently, Garp took Koby under his wing and trained him to become stronger. The training was a resounding success, and Koby ended up improving physically and mentally.
Koby was involved in the Rocky Port Incident, which earned him the nickname “The Hero.” Koby was also involved in the massive battle on Hachinosu, where he managed to destroy Pizarro’s ginormous arm with a single attack. Aside from these feats, Koby also received Garp’s endorsement, who called himthe future of the Marines. Keeping all these things in mind, Koby deserves to be at least a Vice Admiral.
1Smoker
Current Rank: Vice Admiral
Smoker is one of the few recurring characters inOne Piecewho are not affiliated with the Straw Hat Pirates. Smoker debuted in the Loguetown arc, where he defeated Luffy and nearly captured him as well. However, Dragon rescued his son and foiled Smoker’s plans. Smoker did not give up, and he followed the Straw Hats into the Grand Line.
Despite the lack of screen time, Smoker is still a fan favorite, and they have high hopes for him. One of the main reasons why Smoker deserves a promotion is because he is among the select few Marines who care about the well-being of people. He is against the manipulation of news, which the current hierarchy in the Marines is quite fond of. For now, Smokerwill remain a Vice Admiral, but he will likely be the one to lead the Marines.
