Summary
A new update is now live forNo Man’s Sky, bringing new fishing mechanics to the game along with new cosmetics, cooking recipes, and an underwater-themed expedition. The update comes as something of a surprise to many in the community, with the content expanding on the previously-released Worlds Part 1 update rather than marking the launch of the greatly anticipated Worlds Part 2 update. Regardless, fishing is an addition that manyNo Man’s Skyfans have hoped to see added to the game for years.
TheNo Man’s Sky’s Worlds Part 1 updatelaunched back in July, marking one of the largest and most consequential updates the game has ever received. As with all previous content updates for the game, the 5.0 update was completely free to all players and brought a significant overhaul to planetary generation and exploration, an area of the game that many in the community had hoped to see updated for years. Remarkably, the new Aquarius update forNo Man’s Skyhas been released less than two months later, giving fans plenty to dig into as they look forward to the future Worlds Part 2 update.
The game’s latest major patch directly builds on one of thefeatures introduced withNo Man’s Sky’s Worlds Part 1 update: the overhauled ocean visuals. With the release of the Aquarius update,No Man’s Skyfans can relax on these graphically stunning shores and catch fish to their hearts' content with a variety of new tools. Players now have access to fishing rods, though they can also unlock and craft new trap technology that will help them catch rarer fish. There’s also the new, deployable Exo-Skiff technology, which allows players to set up a comfortable fishing platform atop the surface of any water, be it a shallow lake or deep ocean.
New Features Added to No Man’s Sky in the Aquarius Update
The Exo-Skiff also comes complete with its own cold storage inventory, allowing players a safe and expansive place to store their catches without clogging up their Exosuit inventories. Players canbuild their ideal fishing bases anywhere inNo Man’s Sky’s universeto catch the many types of fish now available in the game, with different planets and environments being home to different species of marine life. Caught fish can be cooked up in a variety of new recipes, which can be sold for profit, traded for nanites with Iteration: Cronus aboard the Space Anomaly, or simply consumed to gain life support fuel and an assortment of other gameplay benefits.
Last but not least,No Man’s Skyplayers can now embark on a new expedition, the Aquarius Expedition. This limited-time community event will run for the next six weeks, taking players on a journey to many of the galaxy’s greatest fishing spots and rewarding them with new aquatic cosmetics, along with a one-of-a-kind fishing rod.
