Xbox gamers who’ve missed out on Sega’s 2011Sonic Generationson Xbox 360 have another opportunity to grab the title as part of the new Sonic Legacy Bundle. This comes just over a month before the highly anticipated release ofSonic X Shadow Generations,which pairs an all-new 3D Shadow game calledShadow Generationswith a remaster ofSonic Generations.
Following the closure of the Xbox 360 Marketplace in July, the digital version ofSonic Generationswas delisted on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S stores, leading to much disappointment from theSonicfanbase. Seeing that aremastered version ofSonic Generationsis about to release as part ofSonic X Shadow Generationsin October, this move was confirmed by Sega to drum up more interest in its new title from those who missed out on the originalSonic Generations.
Now,Sonic Generationshas been made available once more on Xbox, but only as part of thenew Sonic Legacy Bundle. The bundle includes the backward compatible Xbox 360 versions ofbothSonic Adventuregames, both episodes ofSonic the Hedgehog 4, and the Xbox 360 port of 1996’sSonic the Fighters. Also included isSonic Adventure’s DX Upgrade, and DLCs forSonic Adventure 2andSonic Generations,all for $60.
Xbox Sonic Legacy Bundle Contents
Despite this bundle now being the only way for fans to get their hands on the original Xbox 360 version ofSonic Generations, fans may find $60 very steep for a collection of 360Sonicgames, many of which are around two decades old or older. The price would be more justifiable if Sega and Xbox also included several long-delistedSonic360 ports, likeSonic andKnuckles,or any of theoriginal threeSonic the Hedgehoggames. WhileSonic Generations' inclusion in this Sonic Legacy Bundle is an exceptionally rare case of Xbox re-listing a game, fans shouldn’t hold their breath for Xbox to do the same with the other delistedSonicgames, or any older delisted game for that matter. As for its price, the Sonic Legacy Bundle’s $60 is sure to begin dropping with time.
Sonicfans have a lot to be excited about this Fall and holiday season as the 2024 Year of Shadow looks to reach its peak.Sonic X Shadow Generationsis set for an October 22 release date, and movie fans are ready for Shadow’s silver screen debut with the help of Keanu Reeves as part ofSonic the Hedgehog 3on December 20.
