Summary

The Arachnophobia Spectacles, a new toy inWorld of Warcraft: The War Within, transforms most NPCs and player characters in the game into various kinds of spiders. ThisWorld of Warcrafttoy is an arachnophobe’s nightmare – but it has a hilarious interaction with the new Arachnophobia Mode by turning everyone into crabs instead.

One of the major factions inWorld of Warcraft: The War Withinare the Nerubians – spider-like monsters who come in myriad arachnid-inspired shapes and sizes. To help fans who don’t like looking at spiders deal with the sudden influx of them,World of Warcraftintroduced Arachnophobia Mode, an optional toggle that transforms spiders and most spider-like beings in the game into crabs, bugs, or other similar creatures.

However,World of Warcraftalso added a new toy to the game that does the exact opposite. The Arachnophile Spectacles can be purchased in Azj-Kahet, thefourth zone inWoW: The War Within, for 1500 Kej – the currency used in the Nerubian kingdom. When used, the spectacles transform other players and NPCs into various types of spiders found in the game, from the new jumping spider models to the classic tarantulas. The spectacles last for 10 minutes, and have a 30-minute cooldown, meaning arachnophiles can surround themselves with spiders for a third of their playtime if they really want.

How to Get Arachnophile Spectacles in World of Warcraft: The War Within

This hilarious toy has a hysterical interaction whenWorld of Warcraftplayers turn on Arachnophobia Mode. Because the toy transforms all spiders into crabs, the Arachnophile Spectacles instead turn everyone else into various crustaceans instead. What’s more, crab models can wield weapons and other tools, leading to some ridiculous sights when the toy and accessibility toggle are used in conjunction.

Spider and crab characters can still ride mounts, creating some truly absurd visuals of the many-limbed creatures awkwardly riding dragons and horses. Unfortunately, the Arachnophile Spectacles don’t transform the player into a spider – but the Arachnoserum, another toy available at Renown 17 with theSevered Threads faction inWoW: The War Withinfor 1750 Kej, does exactly that.

Fans who would prefer to transform other characters into something a little more cuddly might want to get the Overtuned Corgi Goggles instead. Players who don’t have this toy yet will likely be able to pick it up duringWorld of Warcraft’s upcoming 20th anniversary event.
