Summary
Some may be skeptical of Antstream Arcade because, on paper, it’s something that sounds almost too good to be true. Getting instant access to over 1,300 retro games on modern consoles is incredible, but the catch is thatAntstream Arcade is a streaming service. There are understandably those who aren’t sold on the idea of streaming games, but from what I played of it, Antstream Arcade delivers what’s promised and does so pretty well.
I have been testingAntstream Arcade on PlayStationahead of its official launch, and I came away quite impressed. With any kind of video game streaming service, the concern is always performance. There are times when services like PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass cloud streaming work without a hitch, but there are also times when they falter and leave players wishing for a direct-download option. Mileage may vary, but I experienced zero problems when streaming games using Antstream Arcade. Everything worked perfectly in my experience; if there was any input lag, it was unnoticeable. Plus, there are awesome quality of life features like save states that make the service’s games lineup far more accessible. Post-launch, menu navigation has been a little laggy at times, but the actual games have continued to work flawlessly.
What Games Are On Antstream Arcade?
How Much Does Antstream Arcade Cost?
Retro game fansinterested in Antstream Arcade will, of course, want to know how much it costs, and honestly, the service’s asking price is quite reasonable. There’s the option to pay $39.99 per year, but the $99.99 lifetime membership makes more sense, in my opinion, especially for someone that likes to play retro games regularly. The service works great, the selection is gigantic with new games added weekly, plus there are special challenges to complete that encourage you to try new games. Antstream Arcade will certainly become a regular part of my gaming rotation moving forward.
PlayStation 5
Sony’s PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth console generation and debuted with a launch lineup that included Demon’s Souls and Astro’s Playroom. The console comes with a Blu-ray disc, although a digital-only edition is also available for a cheaper price.
Game Rant was provided with a code for an Anstream Arcade lifetime membership.
