Summary
Microsoft Rewardsis giving some users a new way to earn 1000 reward points per month. This could be a major boon for someMicrosoftRewards users, especially given some of the changes the program has undergone over the years.
Microsoft Rewards is a program that gives users pointsfor activities they already do daily, like playing on a console or performing a web search. The number of points a user can earn is limited, so users have to think thoughtfully about what they want to redeem their points for. Adding a thousand points per month to that total could make a big difference for some, but not everyone has access to it.
On September 16, Microsoft Rewards alerted select members that the service would be adding a new bonus system for users who play games on PC. According to the release, Microsoft Rewards users can earn a weekly bonus of 250 points so long as they play games on their PC five days a week. This can be completed at any point of the week, from Monday through Sunday. If a user completes this task each week, they’ll earn a sweet 1000 points over the course of the month that they can redeem for things likeXbox Game Passand gift cards. However, there are some catches.
Microsoft Rewards 1000 Point PC Gaming Bonus in Detail
To start, this bonus is only available in Germany and Mexico as of this writing. Microsoft Rewards sometimes rolls things out in regions before going worldwide with changes, so with any luck, users in other regions just need to wait a bit.
Another detail is that the daily PC gaming bonus has been altered for these users, reducing the bonus from 20 points per day to 10. In other words, in a 30 day month with a user gaming on PC every single day, the earnings will be cut from 600 points to 300. So for avid users, the new combined bonuses will be like earning 700 extra points per month, not a full 1000. With that said, though, the more flexible 5-days-a-week bonus is likely to appeal to those that can’t necessarilyplay a game every single dayof the week.
Some users have lamented many of the changes made to the service over the years, with bonuses coming and going andMicrosoft Rewards changing its prices. Ultimately, Microsoft Rewards is a free service that gives users something for nothing, so while it can be frustrating for the benefits to be reduced, it’s still better than the service shutting down entirely.
