Summary
The Milepost Zero update has introduced many new characters into the game.Fallout 76’slatest region,Skyline Valley, is fast becoming a central hub where lots of players choose to set up shop. This latest update has brought in a handful of new characters with interesting stories, unique items, and more.
While the update has received some negative feedback surrounding its newest content, if the caravan event feature can be expanded in the near future, then the Milepost Zero update could just be the foundation of something much bigger. This list will go through the new characters introduced in this update.
1Marley
The Main Character Of The New Update
Marley is trying to grow the caravan network across the Skyline Valley region. She, like most of the other new characters, can be found inside Milepost Zero.Marley has taken the role of temporary boss as the company manager. Joanna Mayfield, the owner, has left Marley to keep things running smoothly. While she has a pretty tough, no-nonsense exterior, she is actually a kind and caring person who wants to see trade routes improved throughout the region.
Marley has a rocky relationship with her father. She only recently met him, and he now works for the company. His name is Theodore. He is one of the characters that the player can hire as part of this update. Bringing up her father is a bit of a touchy subject. She doesn’t really share a lot of details.
Players will need to speak to Marley to startSkyline Valley Caravan Events. She is also the one to speak to when it comes to spending supplies. Supplies are the latest currency that was introduced to the game with the Milepost Zero update. These can be used to hire help to run caravans and purchase goods and upgrades.
2Theodore
A Tough-Talking Ghoul Merchant
Theodore is the most costly worker to unlock. To buy him, players will need to hand over 150 supplies to Marley. He’s a rather private guy who used towork for Vault-Tec. As mentioned, Theodore is Marley’s father. Just like Marley, Theodore doesn’t like talking about his personal life, so he gives the player very little information. As for his ability, he runs a store. While the store doesn’t sell much, if the player chooses to invest some supplies in upgrading Theodore, then he will give the player a unique side quest. The player can get a unique weapon, the V63 Carbine when completing this quest.
Not only that but as the player continues to upgrade Theodore, he will start selling a variety of plans to craft mods for the V63 Carbine. While it’s not the best weapon in the game, it is a lot of fun to use. Also, it’s a great collector’s piece to hang onto.
3Josie
The Friendly Brahmin Tamer
Josie is a strange character. Despite applying to work as a Brahmin tamer, she has little experience in the field. Also, she’s not overly fond of animals. Despite those drawbacks, she is surprisingly good at her job. As the player makes their way through the tiers, they will be able to purchase lots of upgrades through Marley, which helps Josie to make running caravans more efficient.
From upgrades that increase the Brahmin’s hurry speed to ones that make the Brahmin have more health, there are lots of upgrades that can be applied to the Brahmin to increase the chance of completing caravan events. While her upgrades seem great on the surface, not all of them are worth investing supplies in.Improving the Brahmin’s healthis a good way to go. But aside from that, a lot of the other add-ons that players can purchase aren’t that useful.
4Ineke
A Trader With Some Unique Plans
Ineke is a friendly yet slightly odd character. Once she has been hired, she can be found sitting in a backroom inside Milepost Zero. Before coming to Appalachia, she worked moving cargo across the ocean. Ineke has spent the majority of her life traveling, learning all sorts of things along the way.
As for her use to the player, she sells a variety of unique plans. These plans can only be obtained by purchasing them through her. While there have been reports of players not being able to see her inventory, traveling outside the location and back in usually fixes the issue. At tier 1, she has the following plans that players can purchase:
5Axel
The Decorator
Axel is a little boy who can be hired for 125 supplies. He is accompanied by Gyro, a non-hostile sentry bot. Axel doesn’t offer anything that aids the player during caravan events. Instead, he decorates the interior of Milepost Zero. The more the player upgrades him, the more decorative options they will have. Since the interior of Milepost Zero is considered an instance, it is unique for everyone. So, with the help of Axel, players can change the interior of Milepost Zero to suit their tastes.
Due to Axel dealing largely in cosmetics, it is worth hiring him last, since he doesn’t offer anything particularly useful. Also, the themes available for players to choose from aren’t particularly exciting. In fact, there have beenquite a lot of players who are disappointedwith the lack of decorative options.
