The global box office currently stands at $10.9 million, which is a considerable flop, from a budget of $20 million.

Never Let Gotells the story of a mother (Halle Berry) and her two young children, Nolan (Percy Daggs IV) and Samuel (Anthony B. Jenkins), who live in a remote forest.Momma (as she’s credited as) is convinced asupernatural forceknown as ‘The Evil’ has taken over the world,and the three of them are the only survivors. Momma gets supernatural visions that are not known to Nolan and Samuel. The family spends their time trying to avoid evil in the world by tying ropes to their house, which connect them. They forage for food and supplies, and the boys say a daily prayer to thank the house for keeping them safe. One day, Samuel and Nolan are having a disagreement which results in Nolan stepping on Samuel’s rope. It causes Samuel to fall, break his angle and get disconnected from his rope.
Nolan unties himself from his rope and sets about trying to rescue Samuel, but Momma arrives in time to rescue them both.She comes face to face with the evil which has assumed the shape of her mother, but Samuel and Nolan don’t see this.Samuel is recovering from his fall when Nolan questions him about what he actually saw. Turns out, Nolan is suspicious of Momma’s claims, but Samuel is having none of it.
A brutal winter descends upon the family, which results in supplies running out. They are unable to hunt for more food or grow their own produce.Elsewhere, Momma’s visions are getting more intense. They include seeing the boys' father and her husband, (whom she killed), as well as their own mother and father. But by far the worst vision is that of a mutilated Nolan. Momma tells the boys about her past in the city and shows them a polaroid camera with one photo left, after picking up on their discontent about their current situation.
Food completely runs out, and the family is forced to consume tree bark to survive. Momma comes up with the controversial suggestion of killing and eating the family dog.Nolan is horrified by this, and it results in a fight when Momma takes the dog into the greenhouse to kill him. Nolan cuts Momma’s rope and locks her inside, hoping that she will see sense and realize the evil force is not real. However,Momma encounters ‘the Evil’ in the form of her mother, and kills herself in front of Nolan inNever Let Go’s shocking death.
How does Never Let Go End?
Samuel blames Nolan for causing Momma’s death, and they continue to starve all alone, with Samuel’s behavior becoming increasingly unpredictable and aggressive.Nolan uses Momma’s rope and descends further into the woods and comes across a deserted road. Upon his return to the house, he meets a hiker who has responded to his calls for help. The hiker is concerned about Nolan’s story and the shocking living conditions. However, Samuel points a crossbow at him, but Nolan and the hiker try to calm him down, but Samuel shoots the hiker.
Nolan follows the hiker as he calls 911, but he dies before retrieving his backpack filled with food. That night, a young girl arrives at the house claiming to be the hiker’s daughter and confronts Samuel. She notices that Samuel has her father’s torch, and is forced to flee as he chases after her. In ashocking plot twist, the girl reveals that she is the Evil and gets close enough to touch Samuel. Back at the house, Samuel appears to be possessed and is showing signs of his Momma’s previous behavior, and he tries to kill Nolan.
Samuel sets fire to the house, and Nolan is confronted by the Evil in the form of Momma. Nolan manages to drag Momma into a small crawlspace inside the house,which shelters them both from the fire. However, ‘The Evil’ sheds Momma’s skin to reveal a snake-like creature that dissipates as Nolan hugs it. The house burns down and Samuel takes a photo, using the very last Polaroid. Paramedics arrive on the scene and rescue Nolan from the rubble of the house and take him in a helicopter to safety, and he learns that Samuel has also been rescued.
They reach civilization, and it is clear that the stories Momma was telling Nolan and Samuel were totally false and the rest of the world is still continuing as normal.However, there is a twist at the end when Samuel whispers something to Nolan:
She loves me more.
He reveals the polaroid from earlier, and it appears to show him being touched by a mysterious hand, which presumably is ‘The Evil’.
