There is no shortage ofsuperstars in the NBAand this is reflected in the player ratings forNBA 2K25. Every year, it’s a waiting game to see what rating a player is given so that different fans can either gloat at others in the community or rail against the developers for getting it all wrong. It’s also always a treat to see which players are going to be at the top of the list.
Well, with the game here andthe player ratings released, players can now take a gander at which players have topped the list at the beginning of this upcoming season. Of course, these ratings can and will change over the course of the season. However, if anyone is looking to see which players are sitting asthe best-rated in the game, then this list is here to inform them about just that.
Nikola Jokic
Overall Rating: 97
It should come as no surprise that Nikola Jokic is the highest-rated player in the game right now. He is coming off his third MVP season, and even though the Nuggets fell short in the second round of the playoffs,Jokic was never shown to be the reason why.
He has already shown to be an incredible talent andseems to just get better every year. His insane passing, his automatic floaters, and his ability to elevate his team to another level prove that he belongs at the top as the bestcenter in the league.
Luka Doncic
Doncic finally overcame his doubters when he was the driving force to the Mavericks' run to the NBA Finals last season, showing off just how talented he is. No one could argue he had skills, but many questioned his ability to take those skills to the next level. Well,he took care of thatby doing just that and coming close to winning his first championship.
Despite the Mavs losing to the Celtics in five games,Doncic belongs in this spot thanks to his clutch gene. If a game is on the line, the Mavs want the ball in his hands as it is more likely than not that he will make the right play at the right time.
Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Bucks haven’t had the best success since winning their first championship in 2021, but Giannis is still one of the best players in the league. His athleticism and size is enough to give him the advantage in just about any match-up out there, and he always brings his game to the big moments.
If he had some more consistent support, the Bucks would be in a different situation. But as it stands,Giannis is still a generational talentthat cannot be ignored. He has two MVP awards for a reason, and it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see a third one coming to him in the near future.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Overall Rating: 96
It’s been a treat to see Shai Gilgeous-Alexander rise up to become a superstar in the NBA, and he is going to bring those talents to his digital counterpart in the game. The Thunder claimed the number one spot in the Western Conference last year largelybecause of SGA and what he brings to the table.
This is going to continue, andthis rating is more than justified. His athleticism and basketball IQ make him one of the absolute best players in the NBA.
Joel Embiid
The Sixers center is just a season away from his first MVP award, andhe has shown little signs of slowing down. While he still struggles with injuries, there is no questioning whether Embiid is talented enough. He can dominate on both sides of the court, stopping anyone from scoring on him while also drilling a clutch three-pointer on the other end.
Embiid and the Sixers are looking tofind some better success in the playoffs, and players can expect him to show why he has been given this rating in the game.
