This article contains spoilers from the Naruto and the Boruto series.

Summary

TheNarutoseries went down in history as one of the most popular works of fiction of all time. It goes without saying that this story inspired millions of people all over the world, and was immortalized in the process.Kishimoto is held in high regard for creating a beloved character In Naruto Uzumaki, and writing a heartwarming story around him. Even a decade after the conclusion of the story,Narutois still loved worldwide, which is why fans haven’t given up on the idea of a proper sequel to the series.

Of course, Boruto certainly does exist, and it is a decent sequel, but fans would love to see another sequel to the story, one that is not based on the life of Boruto Uzumaki but on the characters of Naruto itself.

Naruto’s Potential For A New Sequel

Naruto already has a sequel to theBorutoseries. It is clear to see that Boruto had a successful start, with the movie being loved by the fans all over the world, and, at the same time, the manga enjoying quite a stunning beginning as well. However, with time, its popularity started dwindling and the lack of fresh ideas meant that Boruto wasn’t the story that fans had expected it to be. Clearly, Boruto, despite being interesting in some ways, doesn’t move the fans the same way that Naruto does. It is never going to reach Naruto’s legacy, and, at the same time, it isn’t half as interesting. This has been proven to the fans over time, and right now, it can be said that the Naruto franchise is in need of new blood. Fans recently got a one-shot from Kishimoto pertainingto the life of Minato Namikaze, and it is safe to say that it surpassed all expectations. This one-shot made fans realize what they were missing and why Naruto was as loved as it is.

At the same time, it also made the fans realize how incredible it would be if Kishimoto picked up his pen once again, and started drawing a better sequel to Naruto, and one that actually focused on the life of the actual protagonist of the entire franchise, Naruto Uzumaki. Along with him, a sequel that focused on the lives of other shinobi from Naruto’s generation would be absolutely spectacular, and it would also help explain the post-war events of the series. All that and much more could be tackled in a proper sequel for Naruto and the fans would absolutely love to see this series being brought to life.

Fans know that Boruto does exist, and there would absolutely be no need for Boruto to stop serialization. This series would continue and have its own story. The new Naruto sequel wouldn’t be there to replace Boruto, and it certainly wouldn’t invalidate Boruto as a sequel story, either. The new Naruto story would fill in between Boruto and the actual Naruto anime, which makes perfect sense, given that there is a significant period of time between the two stories.

How The Sequel Could Breathe New Life Into The Franchise

Naruto Sequel Could Showcase The Original Cast Take Part In Amazing Battles

There is a blank period that follows the conclusion of the Fourth Great Ninja War that fans know very little about. Of course, the events of The Last: Naruto the Movie takes place during this time. This is then followed by the Boruto era, which fans now begin with the arrival of Momoshiki and Kinshiki. But, the time preceding that is largely unknown and unexplored. A new Naruto series could be set in this time, and it would be absolutely incredible for the fans to see post-war Naruto grow in terms of power, skill, and maturity, and further show everyone why he is deserving to be the Hokage. At the same time, this new Naruto series could also focus on the life of Sasuke Uchiha. During this time, Sasuke was on his redemption journey and it would certainly be interesting to see how his view of the world changes, and what moves him on his journey.

Fans would also see Sakura move forward on her path, and grow as a kunoichi even further. Above all, fans would love to see things like Team 7 teaming up in this series, and this would certainly be a nostalgic trip down the memory lane and, at the same time, allow them to grow even further as characters.

Boruto tbv 13

This is precisely what theNarutofranchise is currently lacking and is something that Boruto could never replicate or produce, even if it wanted to.Boruto’sstory is, in many ways, lackluster, and even though the author has tried his best to use Naruto characters to essentially keep the fans hooked to the series, it has not worked. Boruto is a mildly popular story, but as a sequel, it has failed to reach the heights of Naruto or even do half as well. Boruto is, in simple words, a subpar story, and that will always be the case. But, a new Naruto story could be absolutely spectacular, and would do great. This new series wouldn’t just continue showcasingthe legacy of Naruto Uzumaki, but at the same time, simply expand this beautiful world that Kishimoto created.

Is There Hope For A New Naruto Sequel?

Kishimoto’s Inclination To Write A New Manga May Give Fans Hope

To be clear, nothing has been announced about a new Naruto sequel at all. Right now, any talk of a new sequel series is simply a wish. But, that certainly doesn’t mean that it is not possible. Recently,Kishimoto drew a one-shot based on Minato Namikaze, and it was incredibly successful. More recently, Kishimoto announced that he may be interested in writing more such one shots, on characters such as Itachi, and many others, based on the global popularity poll. Of course, he also mentioned that he says this half-jokingly but that he is intrigued by the idea itself. At the same time, fans also know that Kishimoto himself is planning to write a new manga. This was something that he confirmed rather recently, when he mentioned clearly that his plans are to focus on enjoying life with his family, and to give focus to his next work. As to what his next work is, fans do not know.

For me, the most important things are taking care of my family, health, and perhaps a new manga. – Kishimoto

Naruto

Clearly, this can go in two ways. Either Kishimoto writes a completely new manga after his failure of Samurai 8, or, he can do a sequel to the Naruto series himself, which would be set in the blank period, and precede the events of the Boruto series. Of course, all this is just wishful thinking right now, and nothing has been confirmed, but, a new series onthe lives of Naruto Uzumakiand all his friends would be absolutely stunning.

Both Naruto and Boruto can be read on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapps.
