Kishimoto’s Plans To Return To Writing Manga In The Future

Masashi Kishimoto always had plans to write another manga after theNarutoseries. Following the serialization of the Naruto series finishing, Kishimoto spent his time resting, traveling the world, and spending time with his family in general. However, fans always knew that eventually,Kishimoto would return to drawing manga. This is something that the author had stated himself, and he did go on to do it eventually. After the serialization of Naruto, Kishimoto’s plans were to write a different story, which later turned out to be Samurai 8. Samurai 8 focused on the story of Hachimaru, a young disabled boy who went on to possess tremendous strength. Unfortunately, this story never really got the popularity that Naruto did, and fans weren’t too keen on this premise and idea either. Eventually, this story concluded within a couple of chapters as it got axed from Shonen Jump. Ever since then, Kishimoto has not written any series, and all he has done is supervise the Boruto manga every month along with Mikio Ikemoto.

That said, fans know that Kishimoto’s appetite for writing manga still exists. In fact, Kishimoto has recently stated that he wants to continue drawing manga again. In a recent interview, Kishimoto stated his desire to continue drawing manga, although he’s still persisted on his priority being spending time with his family. But, he did say that his priorities include focusing on his future work as well. This essentially means that Kishimoto will return to drawing manga once again, and fans are hopeful.

Kishimoto Wants To Write About The Winners Of The Popularity Poll

While Kishimoto will eventually go on to write a new manga, as he has stated himself, that certainly isn’t all he’s planning to do. Kishimoto recently also clarified that he wants to continue writing the Naruto series as well and expand his world even further. In 2023, Kishimoto wrote a one-shot on the character of Minato Namikaze. This one-shot happened because of the Naruto Global Poll, and, as announced by the author, the winner received a special one-shot. Unfortunately, there were many other characters who fans would have loved to see get a one-shot as well that ended up losing. Now, Kishimoto has recently revealed that he would love to write whole stories on the other characters as well. Upon being asked recently about whether he wants to continue expanding the world of Naruto with his one-shots, here is what Kishimoto Have to say:

Yes, I would like to do others, but I am taking the time to think about it. In fact, I based myself on a ranking of characters made among readers. Minato was the first. The second is Itachi… I say it half-jokingly, but you never know.

Itachi crying

Clearly, the author of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto, would love to write more shots and, as he stated himself, the next character is Itachi Uchiha, which means that fans will get a one-shot about this individual soon enough. Furthermore, the fact is that Kishimoto did not state that Itachi is the only other character that he is going to be writing about. If Kishimoto does a series of one-shots, then there will be many other exciting characters who will be getting their own one-shot stories, and, with that, expanding the world of Naruto even further and adding lore and depth to these characters and the series in general.

For fans who do not remember,Itachi Uchiha finished second in the popularity poll, and he was followed by Sakura Haruno in third place. In fourth place, another member of the Uchiha Clan, Shisui, held strong, with the protagonist of the series, Naruto Uzumaki himself, being in 5th place. He is followed by Kakashi, who fans would also love to know more about. If Kishimoto does a series of one-shots, then these characters will all get richer, and, above all, fans will get their share of Naruto dose, something that they desperately want at this point.

What Could The Itachi Uchiha One Shot Entail?

Itachi’s Story Could Be About The Akatsuki Days

Itachi Uchiha is going to be an incredibly exciting character to write about. This is a character that fans have always wanted to know more about, and even though the vast majority of his life has been covered by two novels, along with much else, already, fans would still love to know more about him. For instance, his time in the Akatsuki is something that fans would love to explore. Similarly, Itachi’s early childhood is also something that they would love to see, and, there are many exciting events the author did not get the chance to put into a story that he can now explore. For instance, in the case of Minato, fans got to see him around the time of the Third Great Ninja War, and howhe ended up creating the Rasengan. In the case of Itachi, fans could see how he was always there to protect his little brother, Sasuke, and how that translated into strengthening his eye for the sake of his brother and his village. There is a lot about Itachi still left to unpack that fans would absolutely love to see in the upcoming one-shot, and hopefully, Kishimoto will do the character Justice.

As for when the Itachi one shot will come out, fans do not know. For now, the author has said that he would love to write these one shots, and is clearly thinking about it. He still says it half-jokingly. Of course, that doesn’t mean that he is not going to write the Itachi and other one-shots; it just means that there isn’t any immediate plan for them. Perhaps, fans will see a new one-shot later this year, or it could come at any point next year. The release date isn’t clear, but the author’s intentto write a story on Itachi Uchihaand many others is.
