Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of theNarutoseries, has recently had quite a lot of exciting opportunities to speak up about his work onNarutoand, at the same time, his plans for the future. Fans got an opportunity to ask him all sorts of exciting questions pertaining to his story and a recent convention, and it is safe to say that a lot of good things came out of it.

Of course, the more exciting parts of the interview suggested thatKishimoto is going to write a new manga, and with that, a new one-shot possibly soon. However, other interesting bits of information added further depth to the world of Naruto, and also revealed quite a lot about the inspirations that Kishimoto had for introducing various elements to his story, such as the Tailed Beasts.

How Kishimoto Incorporated Tailed Beasts In Naruto

Fans know the Tailed Beasts to be a very important part of theNarutoseries. At the very beginning, fans got to see the Nine Tails in the flesh, andit was the Fourth Hokage, Minato, who sealed the beast away. Back then, the Nine-Tails was seen as a calamity that befell society whenever evil was on the rise. With time, the concept of Tailed Beasts was developed further by the author and elaborated upon greatly in the story. At first, fans thought there was only one Tailed Beast in the world of Naruto.

However, later down the line, another host like Naruto, Gaara, showed up. At this point, it became clear that there could be more than one Tailed Beast. And, at the end of the first part of the Naruto series, with the introduction of the Akatsuki, it became clear that there are actually multiple Tailed Beasts, and they were being hunted one by one.

In the second part of the Naruto series, it was already clear to the fans that there are actually multiple powerful Tailed Beasts that exist in the world. At this point, fans knew that Kurama was the 9th and the final beast, which meant that there were eight before him. All these Nine Tailed Beasts together held tremendous powers, and they could level countries, if not more. The concept of the Tailed Beast was certainly very intriguing in Naruto. In the case of Naruto Uzumaki, it was first used to protect the village by being sealed away at first. However, the longer vision of Minato here was for Naruto to harness the powers of the Nine Tails to save the world.

The other Tailed Beasts were, just like kurama, persecuted, and because they were treated like weapons, they developed hostilities towards humans. The Eight Tails, Gyuki, was an exception, and his bond with Killer Bee was unbreakable. Overall, the concept of Tailed Beasts was absolutely spectacular in theNarutoseries, and it is one ofthe many things that Kishimotopulled off to perfection. Fans got to see all the Tailed Beasts one by one in the story, and of course, while some of them do leave a lot to be desired, writing-wise, they are still an exciting part of the world that fans have come to cherish over the years.

When one thinks of it, the Tailed Beasts were the core of theNarutoseries. The main main goal in the Naruto series at the end was for the nine Tailed Beasts to be collected and for the Ten Tails to be revived. Once again, the Ten Tails is another Tailed Beast which eventually ended up connected to the overarching villain of the series, Kaguya Otsutsuki. One cannot deny the importance of the Tailed Beasts in theNarutoseries, and now, Kishimoto has revealed what inspired him to create these beasts.

Kishimoto’s Inspiration For Tailed Beasts

The Tailed Beasts Are Modeled After The Kaiju

Thanks to the recent convention,Kishimoto got the opportunity to talk about a lot of his ideasfor theNarutoseries. The Tailed Beasts were a topic brought up as well, especially because they are such a huge part of the story. Here is what Kishimoto had to say about the Tailed Beasts:

I’ve had a passion for Godzilla since I was in elementary school. My dream was to one day draw Kaiju, so I had to include some in my story

I like Godzilla, I like Mothra, I like King Ghidorah, and I even like Rodan. In Naruto, that inspired me for the Tailed Beasts.

It is clear for the fans to see that Kishimoto was inspired by many Kaiju for his Tailed Beast idea. Of course, the idea wasn’t always for there to be Tailed Beasts. Kishimoto had actually considered making shape-shifting humans for the series at first, but this idea was discarded.

The end result, however, was spectacular and these Tailed Beasts certainly did breathe life into the Naruto franchise. It is incredibly exciting for fans to see how authors can get inspired by some of the most fascinating pieces of media and how they manage to incorporate them into their own stories. In the case of the Naruto series, fans knew that the Tailed Beasts were incorporated beautifully.

Will the Tailed Beasts Play A Bigger Role In Boruto?

The Ten Tails Plays A Major Role In Naruto

Right now, theNarutoseries is continuing throughBoruto, and fans know for a fact that the idea of Tailed Beast is going to be played with quite a lot here as well. For instance,Naruto Uzumaki recently lost his own Tailed Beast, Kurama, and now it has reappeared inside Himawari Uzumaki. Meanwhile, the 10 Tails is still at the center of all problems in the Naruto series, given that the recent villains, such as the Shinju, have stemmed from it. Clearly, the Boruto series is going to play with the idea of Tailed Beasts more.

However, it is unfortunate that the original nine Tailed Beasts are not as important in the story, other than Kurama himself. Fans would love to see the other eight Tailed Beasts being introduced in the story once again, and helping the protagonist more.

So far, only Kurama has been relevantin theBorutoseries, and even he has been sidelined for a good chunk of the story. The 10 Tails has been ever present, and it is highly likely that the ten tails and its extension, such as the Shinju, are going to be central in the upcoming few arcs of the Boruto series as well.

Hopefully, fans will get to see new and exciting ideas from both Kishimoto and Ikemotofor the future of the Boruto series, and these ideas will go on to light up the series in an incredibly exciting fashion. All the fans need to do at this point is sit back and wait for them to deliver.

Naruto and Boruto are both available to read onManga Plusand Shonen Jump apps.
