Inasa Yoarashi is a hyperactive and energetic character with a strong sense of justice whodreams of becoming a Pro Hero. His quirk Whirlwind complements his fiery passion for battle and ruthless style of fighting. Through years of dedication and hard work, he has developed remarkable control of his powers and is able to confront the strongest adversaries with an unwavering self-belief.
Inasa’s confidence is primarily rooted in his efficient quirk, which is convenient for defensive and offensive purposes. Whirlwind offers Yoarashi amultitude of long-range attacksthat allow him to control the battlefield without putting himself in harm’s way. His versatile fighting style puts him ahead of his opponents and a huge credit for his brilliance goes to his quirk. Whirlwind is arguably one of the most dynamic abilities in the series and if you are intrigued by it and wish to know how it works, we have got you covered.
What is Whirlwind?
A Formidable Quirk That Can Harness the Force of the Wind
Whirlwind is an emitter quirkthat allows the user to influence the air around them. Extremely efficient for long-range attacks, it can create small tornadoes and frightening gales in the blink of an eye. Since Inasa has pinpoint accurate control over the quirk, he can overwhelm his adversary by directing different wind currents. It is incredibly difficult to predict his attacks as Yoarashi manipulates gusts of wind without any noticeable physical movement. Since each offensive move is well-directed, it is often too late before his opponent can realize what hit them.
In the first phase ofthe Provisional Hero License Exam, the students are tasked to eliminate their peers by targeting three marks on their bodies using orange balls. While other students are struggling to pass the exam, Inasa beautifully utilizes his Whirlwind quirk to eliminate 120 students at once. Yoarashi manages to pull off the incredible feat by manipulating the motion and direction of the orange balls with well-controlled air currents, making it appear effortless to the bystanders. His incredible performance shocks everyone and demonstrates his accuracy and remarkable mastery of his powers.
Interestingly, Inasa also uses Whirlwind to propel himself in the air. This is made possible by generating miniature tornadoes with the help of his specially designed hero costume that wraps his body with tubings to facilitate airflow and create a powerful lift. However, he can also use wind bursts to propel himself in the air without having to use his costume. Flying gives Yoarashi a birds-eye view of the battleground that in turn helps him efficiently strategies against his adversary and fight at long range.
The gusts of wind produced by Whirlwind are so strong that they can blow away Yoarashi’s opponents. These winds are also effective in evading attacks by deflecting projectiles. Whirlwinds’s versatility lies in its incredibly creative application. An interesting example of this is when Inasa combines his powerful winds withShoto’s Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirkto invent a new move during the last phase of the Provisional Hero License Exam. Although Whirlind is a powerful quirk that allows Yoarashi to fight both defensively and offensively it has some inconspicuous weaknesses that also make the user vulnerable.
Whirlwind’s Weaknesses
Yoarashi’s Quirk is Versatile But it Has Some Serious Shortcomings
As mentioned above, Whirlwind is an efficient quirk, especially in long-range combatas it allows Inasa to control the battlefield while significantly diminishing the chances of ever being hit directly by a move. However, its long-range combat effectiveness turns into a shortcoming as it is not nearly as potent in close-range fights. Things get even worse if Yoarashi’s adversary has a quirk that either negates wind-based attacks or functions effectively at short distances.
Yoarashi can even activate Whirwind just by using his thoughts when he is incapacitated. However, in such a situation the overall effectiveness, speed, and strength of the quirk declines significantly leaving him vulnerable. Furthermore, opponents with fire-based quirksor attacks appear to disrupt Inasa’s quirk control as well.
While these shortcomings are certainly concerning, Yoarashi is still a formidable opponent on the battlefield who understands his powers inside out and has the combat knowledge to put himself at an advantage at all times. He operates beautifully with his weakness in mind and is undoubtedly an appealing hero when he is on the battlefield.
