Summary
In order to defeat Shigarakiwho has acquired the full power of All-For-One, Deku has no choice but to sacrifice every quirk that has been accumulated inside of the One-For-All for generations. In order to defeat All-For-One, Deku needs to let go of One-For-All. After the fight, only a trace amount of One-For-All’s embers were left in Deku, but even that quickly ran out as well. This means Deku is back to where he was at the beginning of the series, a boy without a quirk.
It was shown in the last chapter of the seriesthat Deku has no choice but to give up hisdream of becoming a heroand choose to become a regular teacher at U.A. instead. However, the same chapter also shows that there is a way for Deku to get back on the front line. Not with quirks, but rather with technology.
Incredible Hero Technology Helps Close the Gap
So how can Deku compensate for the lack of One-For-All? How can he continue as a hero if he no longer has a quirk? Well, the answer is technology. From simple costumes to devices that can enhance quirk control, every hero around the world uses all kinds of support technology.
In recent years, however, there has been a tremendous rise in the advancement of Hero technology to the point that it is possible to rely solely on support items and devices to become a full-fledged hero. And all of this is possible largely thanks to the armor that All Might uses during his final fightagainst All-For-One.
Armored All Might
In his final battle against All-For-One,All Might deploys state-of-the-art armorthat could unleash abilities based on the quirks of some of the students of Class 1-A, such as Red Riot’s hardened skin, Deku’s Blackwhip, and even Bakugo’s explosion. In a lot of ways, this armor is pretty muchMy Hero Academia’sversion of the iconic Iron Man’s armor and the Hulk Buster armor.
This armor was designed and developed by Melissa Shield and other researchers from the U.S., based on All Might’s request. All Might himself is actually the one who provides his combat data along with the specs and the features that he wants to be included in the armor. It is said that All Might uses every last cent of his life savings to fund this project.
Using Combat Data to Create Deku Armor
Although All Might failed to stop All-For-One with his armor, the combat data is pretty much a treasure trove of information that can be used for the next iteration of this armor. And as we’ve learned in the last chapter of My Hero Academia, a new armor has indeed been secretly developed for Deku.
This armor is based on All-Might’s combat data when he fought with the previous armor and Deku’s combat footagewhen he fought Shigaraki in the final war. This armor was developed through a joint effort of the American research team led by Melissa Shield, and the Japan research team led by Mei Hatsume. This time around, the ones who fund the project are the former students of U.A. Class 1-A.
Recreating One-for-All With Technology
All Might has proven that it is possible to simulate numerous quirks with the help of technology. But what aboutthe quirks within One-For-All? Can Melissa and Hatsume recreate those quirks for Deku’s brand-new armor? While the original manga never gets to talk about this, it’s still possible to imagine which one of the quirks can be replicated by custom-made tools or devices based on the technology that already exists in the world of My Hero Academia.
Recreating All Might’s Super Strength
The first ability that Deku could use when he received One-For-All isAll Might’s super strength. It is fairly easy to replicate super strength with armor. In fact, due to the nature of the armor that acts as an exoskeleton for the user, it automatically increases the user’s strength. The only thing that they need to calibrate is the level of strength and the durability of the armor to suit Deku’s fighting style. They’ve already successfully added super strength to All Might’s armor, so there’s no reason why they can’t do the same to Deku’s armor.
Recreating the Seventh’s Float
This one is also quite a straightforward process. All it takes is one or two thrusters to makeDeku float and maneuver mid-air.In fact, with some high-powered thrusters, Deku can do more than just hover above the ground. He will be able to fly.
Recreating the Sixth’s Smokescreen
This is another easy quirk to replicate. After all, smoke grenades have been around for decades, so it shouldn’t be hard to include them in the armor. Deku only needs to customizethe intensity of the smokeand whether or not he wants this feature to be built into the armor itself or as a separate device like an actual smoke grenade.
Recreating the Fifth’s Blackwhip
One of the abilities that All Might incorporates into his armor isDeku’s Blackwhip. At the time, All Might uses multiple thick wires that he can shoot out of his arms. Just like the real Blackwhip, these wires can be used to bind the target or help the user reach faraway targets with ease. Deku’s version can even go one step further by installing Artificial Intelligence to make the wires work just like a mini version of Doctor Octopus’ tentacles inSpider-Man.
Recreating the Fourth’s Danger Sense
Danger Sense is a quirk that detects the enemy’s intent and any incoming threats, which makes it hard to replicate. After all, it’s basically impossible to create a tool that can detect the opponent’s bloodlust. That being said, it’s possible to include numerous sensors in the armor to act as a slightly inferior version ofthe Danger Sense, such as a heat sensor, proximity sensor, facial recognition, or even A.I. to help predict the enemy’s movement.
Recreating the Third’s Fa Jin
Fa Jin is a quirk that allows its user to store kinetic energywhich can be released as a burst of energy later on. This type of ability can be quite tricky to replicate. That being said, Fa Jin basically works in the same way as the Kinetic Energy Absorption feature in MCU’s Black Panther suit. So it should be possible for Hatsume to update Deku’s Full Gauntlet or for Melissa to update Deku’s Iron Soles to have the Kinetic Energy Absorption feature to properly replicate Fa Jin.
Recreating the Second’s Gearshift
Out of every quirk in One-For-All,Gearshift is undoubtedly the most difficult one to replicate. This quirk allows the user to freely change the acceleration of an object, just like a gearshift in a car. With this quirk, Deku can move at a normal running place in one moment, and then accelerate to the top speed of a racing car in the next moment, and then come to a dead stop in the next moment, ignoring the law of inertia in the process.
Theoretically, these kinds of rapid changes in acceleration can be achieved by using thrusters in different parts of the body, just like Iron Man and his palm repulsors. But if they do that, Deku will experience a deadly level of G-force that can break every bone in his body and turn his organs into mush.
The only reason whyDeku could go to the extreme with Gearshiftwas because he had the power of One-For-All inside him. Even then, he couldn’t continuously use this quirk for more than 5 minutes. Otherwise, he will be incapacitated because the burden of this quirk on his body is simply too great. So it’s debatable whether or not the new armor needs Gearshift within its arsenal.
The Original One-For-All
The original One-For-All is nothing more than a stockpiling quirk that can compound the effect of anything that is put inside it. Think of it as a storage space that can magically increase the number of items that you put in it. It can’t really do anything on its own, which was why All-For-One gave it to his brother, the first wielder of One-For-All.
So not only is it basically impossible to replicate the effect of this quirk, but it’s also debatable whether or not Deku actually needs this quirk for his new armor. After all, the armor can already execute the other quirks perfectly without the need for One-For-All, so is there even a need for a mechanized version of One-For-All?
Muscle Memories
So we’ve established that Deku can continue as a hero by using armor that was based onAll Might’s previous armor. We also established that it is possible to replicate the effect of various quirks within One-For-All. The last piece of the puzzle is Deku himself. He is the only one who knows whether or not he can move as he used to. Based on his conversation with All Might in the last chapter ofMy Hero Academia, the answer is a resounding yes.
Deku’s Experience of Using Multiple Quirks
What makes Deku different than the previous holder of One-For-All is the fact thathe can use every quirk within One-For-All to create a highly dynamic fighting stylethat allows him to face any kind of opponent that comes his way. All-For-One is pretty much the other person who is as well-versed as Deku when it comes to fighting with multiple quirks.
That’s why Deku is the only one in the world who can maximize the true potential of this armor. He used this fighting style so much against different kinds of opponents and in all kinds of situations, to the point that it has become a muscle memory for him. Once he put on the armor, he should be able to perform as he used to in a matter of minutes.
Continuous Improvement
One of the best things about using state-of-the-art armor is the fact that it can always be improved from one battle to the next. Every combat means more data to analyze, which means more chances to update the armor to make it more effective in combat.
The same thing can’t be said about a regular quirk. After all, there’s always a limit to how far a person can push their quirks without hurting their body or their quirk going out of control. Tools and devices, on the other hand, can always be adjusted and improved upon based on the needs and preferences of the user.
In conclusion, the way Deku compensates for the lack of One-For-All is by using a highly advanced armor that can replicate most ofthe quirks within One-For-Alland by relying on his body that still distinctly remembers how it feels to fight with multiple quirks. He might not be as powerful as he once was, but at least Deku gets to continue living his dream as a hero.

My Hero Academia
In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
