Summary
Bakugo Katsuki’s explosive personality has gotten him in trouble plenty of times. While Bakugo prefers to do everything with absolute perfection, an undeniable win, his aggressiveness is not quite desired by the general publicif Bakugo plans to climb the Hero rankings.
Hero rankings are essential for a Pro Hero to establish themselves in their careers, allowing them to make money, pay for damages, and build Agencies inMy Hero Academia. However, while their strength is greatly needed to help the civilians feel safe, their personalities could also affect how others feel about being protected by them. Based on this, was Bakugo Katsuki able to change his explosive personality as a Pro Hero?
Why are Hero rankings so important?
Heroes are the backbone that holds society together, but so are the general public
The Hero rankings, or Japanese Hero Billboard Charts, are essential for several reasons. For Pro Hero’s to be paid, they need their public reputation to rise. Once a Pro Hero has started at a Hero Agency, they can begin patrolling the area alongside an established Hero. This does one of two things: the citizens in that area will acknowledge that Heroes are patrolling the area, thus increasing morale and their Hero rankings. This is also done to prevent villains from attacking innocent civilians.
The Hero Billboard Chart is also a physical means of showing the Heroes and the public who are the strongest Heroes in the country, along with the number of incidents resolved, their level ofcontribution to society, and their approval ratings; this chart will be updated twice a year. This event is also a means of making important announcements, such as when All Might retired from being a Pro Hero.
As a result, cooperating with the general public while on patrol or doing interviews is a means for a Pro Hero to gain more prestige and fans along the way. With this, Pro Hero can sell merch and other collectibles, providing them with higher wages and the ability to fundtheir own Hero Agencyand pay for damages that have occurred during intense battles.
Public approval is also essential for Pro Heroes. Heroes are a means of showing the public that they are safe and that they will be there when tragedy arises. If Pro Heroes have a bad reputation, this can dwindle the public’s faith in them, thus resulting in outrage and a lack of support. This, in turn, can prevent the Heroes from performing their jobs adequately, as civilians would throw garbage at them or take matters into their own hands, which could lead to more destruction, as civilians are not trained to handle these situations.
Overall, becoming the number one Hero would be the highest prestige given to a Hero, as you would be the highest earner and gain public approval for providing for your society. However, while the Billboard Chart is a means to prove your strength and achievements, you may be less popular or have low approval amongst the public. An example of this would be Endeavor, who rose to the number one spot; however, due to his stoic nature, he was not as popular as All Might.
Why does Bakugo have an explosive personality?
What led Bakugo to have this temperament?
Bakugo Katsuki has alwayshad an explosive personality. From a young age, after Bakugo’s Quirk arrived, Bakugo would become abrasive, rude, loud, and aggressive. There are several reasons for his personality traits. Bakugo has always been put on a pedestal due tohis powerful Explosion Quirk. At a young age, it was well-known that Bakugo would have the means to become a powerful Pro Hero.
The general public has always idolized Heroes. As a result, Bakugo’s ego has grown exponentially, and he believes he is stronger than everyone else. His classmates also idolized and placed him on a pedestal, often in awe of this powerful Quirk, which led him to be the leader of a little ragtag group when he was younger.
However, Bakugo was only ever exposed to others with weaker Quirks than his. Thus, when he entered UA High School, he was quickly given a reality check and slightly cooled down his ego, although his hard work still proved he could be one of the strongest Heroes.
Another reason could possibly be his Quirk. In the series, it’s well-known that Quirks can influence a character and thus your personality, as seen with Himiko Toga, who had to suppress her Quirk, which led her to become a villain. As such, it’s possible that Bakugo’s Explosion Quirk led him to have an explosive personality. AlthoughBakugo is known for being outspoken, he can respond calmly and assess the situation with a cool head if he wants to.
Was Bakugo able to change after becoming a Pro Hero?
Bakugo stays true to his explosive personality
Bakugo Katsuki has always wanted to be a Pro Hero and the number one Hero in Japan. To do so, he enrolled in the prestigious UA High School to obtain a Hero education and thus become a Pro Hero. At this school, young Heroes are taught how to deal with disasters, train their Quirks, and learn more about what it means to be a Hero.
Katsuki has always been intelligent andknows how to use his Quirkto the best of his abilities. However, one thing he always lacked was the ability to control his explosive personality. When Bakugo first received his provisional Hero license and took part in a major incident, his personality was less than desired. Due to his uncooperativeness, his parts in the interview were cut.
Since then, many Pro Heroes and teachers have tried to make him change his explosive personality when interviewed. Unfortunately, eight years after he graduated from UA High School, Bakugo still refuses to conduct himself in an orderly fashion, as seen in Chapter 430. As a result, hisrankings would drop significantly, leading himfurther away from becoming the number one Hero.
