It seems like leaks are all too common these days when game development is concerned. If enough eyeballs are on a project, it’s almost guaranteed that something will hit the public before it’s ready to be formally announced. In this regard,MultiVersusis no exception. It may even be a standout becauseMultiVersushas had more leaksthan the average game.

Since the earliest days ofMultiVersus, dataminers have been hard at work scrounging through the game’s files trying to find hints of what’s coming next. It happened all the way through the beta, and some dedicated miners are still trying to figure out the game’s next steps post-launch. Some of what they’ve found is interesting and gives the best indication of what characters players can expect down the road - some of them quite soon, possibly.

New MultiVersus Update Has Fans Wanting to Save the Game

MultiVersus Leaked Characters

Are the MultiVersus Data Leaks Reliable?

Given that’s a fairly hefty list, it’s best to take some time and unpack what all of it means. These data leaks have been extremely reliable in the past, as they were able to anticipate the reveals of Rick, Morty, Gizmo, Stripe, Marvin, Beetlejuice, and Samurai Jack. While no leaks can ever be counted with 100% accuracy (Gizmo and Stripe’s earliest appearances in files indicated they may have been a 2-in-1 fighter early on in development), theMultiVersusdata miners have been remarkably accurate in the past, giving strong reason to believe that some of these characters will be making it to the game at some point in the future.

Some of these fighters’ files have not been updated for quite some time, giving some members of the community the impression those characters may be scrapped. Chief among them are Harry Potter and Gandalf. This makes the most sense because those individual characters requirerights negotiations with the respective authors' estatesthat may have fallen through behind the scenes.

How MultiVersus Data Miners Found the Leaked Characters

There are a few different ways dataminers have been parsing through the files determining who’s on the way. The first, and most obvious, is through fighter models and moves being found in the code.Fighters like Daffy, Marceline, Aquaman, Emmett, and Godzilla have been leaked due to their names, moves, and even some animations being found by the dataminers.

Some fighters have been identified due to unreleased voice lines. These voice lines come from the unreleased fighters themselves (as was the case with Beetlejuice), as well as fighters currently in the game. Brain Gremlin,Pickle Rick, Ruby Rose, the Powerpuff Girls, Nubia, and Scorpion have all been confirmed by voice lines one way or another.

Finally, certain characters have stages associated with them that have been found in the files. Unfinished stages have been found in a very recent build of the game, indicatingMad Max and Barbie may be joiningMultiVersus. AHarry Potter-themed map was also found in the works, meaning that all hope may not be lost for Potterheads.

When to Expect Leaked Characters in the Game

Players may be understandably excited to know when these characters might make it to the game proper, but sadly, there’s no clear answer just yet. Joker, Beetlejuice, and Samurai Jack were all in the files from the early days of the beta, and they just released. The most likely candidates for release are probably the characters with stages already in the game. Fighters like the Powerpuff Girls, Dexter, and Raven all have stages, but haven’t officially broken onto the roster yet. They’re the next likely candidates to join the roster officially. Godzilla is a fan-favorite pick, but is likely taking extra development time, due togiant-sized characters presenting a problem forMultiVersusin the past.
