Summary

Following the announcement of Noob Saibot’s return inMortal Kombat 1Khaos Reigns, NetherRealm Studios gives fans their first look at the classic character, his story, and, of course, fatalities. The expansion continues the story set forth by the core game, set within Fire God Liu Kang’s new timeline. While the campaign led players to an epic showdown, the door was left ajar in a mid-credits scene as a different timeline’s version of Titan Havik arrived with intentions of starting a new battle. Alongside a new campaign and the return of animality finishers, theMortal Kombat 1expansion adds 6 characters to the roster, including new versions of classic fighters Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot as well as 3 guest characters of T-1000, Conan the Barbarian, and Ghostface. For now, NetherRealm is continuing to highlight the returning fighters, with a dedicated trailer for the shadow assassin, Noob Saibot.

The latest trailer forMortal Kombat 1highlights the new twisted version of Noob Saibot, a legacy character that is able to utilize portals and a shadow clone to mess with opponents. The trailer also reveals new details surrounding the character, strongly hinting that Bi-Han not only loses to Titan Havik, but becomes a twisted version that shares his anarchistic goals. Similar to therecentMK1Sektor trailer, Noob fans will certainly notice a number of returning abilities, though many have seemingly been tweaked slightly to give the character a fresh feel. As expected, the trailer ends with Noob’s fatal blow, gruesome fatality, and hinting at the new animality where he turns into an alligator.

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Tweaks Noob Saibot’s Origin Slightly

In terms of Noob’s origin story, NetherRealm is switching things up slightly. While still an undead version of the original Sub-Zero, Bi-Han,Mortal Kombat 1’s take on Noob Saibotinvolves the chaos god Havik, who stole his soul to create an ally that also opposes authority. The previous version of Noob Saibot is that, as Sub-Zero, he was killed by Scorpion as revenge for his death as well as the demise of his clan at the hands of the Lin Kuei. Following his murder, the sorcerer Quan Chi resurrected Bi-Han within the nether realm to become a shadow wraith known as Noob Saibot.

Outside of new story content and characters, Khaos Reigns may be hiding new features as well. Recent leaks indicate thatMortal Kombat 1may be getting new featureslike an online practice mode as well as something known as the Warrior Shrine. While still unconfirmed by NetherRealm Studios at the moment, Online Practice Mode would be making a return from the last couple of games in the franchise, while Warrior Shrine remains a complete mystery. However, with the release date for Khaos Reigns rapidly approaching, it may only be a matter of time before these features are ultimately confirmed.
