WhileMoonstone Islandmight appear similar toStardew Valley, the game sets itself apart in various ways. Even though players can farm crops, the game’s creator has pointed out thatMoonstone Islandis more than a farming simulator. For example, the game features a variety of Spirits that can be collected and tamed. Furthermore, players can battle with these Spirits by using a card-based system. Since the game’s release in September 2023, Studio Supersoft, the developer ofMoonstone Island, has released numerous DLC packs and updates to keep the game’s experience fresh.
To help celebrate Autumn,Moonstone Islandhas released the free Festivals update, along with a fall-themed DLC pack. The new update brings some substantial changes to the game, including four new Spirits for players to collect. According to thedeveloper ofMoonstone Island, these are Bittybolt, Glovem, Bungo, and Shadeling, each with pretty unique designs. Beyond the new Spirits, the Festivals update introduces three new season events: Spirit Spring Festival, Lunar Festival, and a Cooking Festival.
Moonstone Island’s Festival Update Adds New Content to the Game
While new Spirits and seasonal events might be the big additions, the free update also adds a variety of other content. For example, a new token of affection item, which lets players gain better standing with anNPC of their choice inMoonstone Island, is now available, and a new Community Chest can be found in Rowan’s Shop, offering “free stuff and gifts” for players. In addition, a variety of new decor items have been added to the game, with some continuing the fall theming, such as the Pile of Leaves decor, which looks pretty much how one would expect.
It is worth noting that players can also purchase the Autumnal Accessories DLC Pack forMoonstone Island. Available on PC and Nintendo Switch, the pack is currently discounted by 10% off its normal $3.99 cost during the first week of release. This pack adds even more fall-flavored decorations, including a Mushroom Spirit Barn, Autumnal Archway, Leaf Stool, and more.
It is nice to see video games add new content to correspond with the seasons of the year. In addition toMoonstone Island, some other life-simulation games have featured updates related to fall. For example,Paleo Pinesrecently released a Halloween update, adding spooky content for players to check out. With the Halloween holiday still nearly a month away, it will be interesting to see what other developers announce fall-related updates and DLC.
