Summary

It looks likeThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powerseason 2 is finally heading towards the war that would begin the tumultuous era of Middle Earth. In the previous five episodes, fans learned how Sauron (Charlie Vickers) manipulated Celebrimbor and influenced him to make 9 rings for men. But this episode is all about Sauron letting everyone know that he doesn’t want to play games anymore and wants to begin his master plan with the fall of Eregion. Will Celebrimbor be able to stop him? or Will Sauron influence him to keep working on the rings?

The fifth episode ofThe Rings of Powerseason 2 was about how King Durin was being influenced by the rings. On the other hand, the shifting of power in Numenor was one of the highlights of the episode. In Episode 6, fans are drawn deeper into the world of Khazad-dûm, and Númenor, giving them a detailed look at how quickly things are changing for the heroes of Middle Earth. With the death of Valandil, the entire focus is now on Elendil because he has been taken as a prisoner and is being blamed for the uprising. Meanwhile, King During has gone completely insane and ordered his people to dig deeper in search of more gold. In this episode, one undeniable truth emerges: Sauron holds all the strings, and everyone around him is merely a puppet in his grand design. This is what makes this episode so special and enthralling, giving viewers an idea of why Sauron is known as the “master deceiver.”

The episode, titledWhere Is He, begins with Arondir getting to know what Adar and his army are planning to do. Meanwhile, Celebrimbor is distressed because he is not able to make the nine rings for men. The Lord of Eregion explodes in anger and tells all of the smiths to keep working. However, Mirdania says that they are out of Mithril and the Dwarves are late with their delivery. Celebrimbor snaps back at Mirdania, which forces her to think that Celebrimbor is being ill-tempered. Sauron sees that and takes the opportunity to influence others by saying things that boost their morale. Thisentire sequence belongs to Vickers and his ability to show Sauron’s nuances. He changes his demeanor so quickly and precisely that even viewers start to think that he really cares for the people and is not here just to accomplish his evil schemes.

Concurrently, Adar sits with Galadriel and shows her the crown of Morgoth, which he previously used to kill Sauron. The Orc leader proposes that Galadriel join forces with him to finally bring an end to Sauron. He takes up all the important information from Galadriel and makes it clear that he will push his army toward Eregion to defeat the villain. But this is what Sauron wants, isn’t it? He wants Adar and his army to destroy Eregion so that he can take control of the entire realm. It seems Adar is so consumed by his aspirations of killing Sauron that he is not able to see what’s right and what’s wrong. Plus, if he drove the entire army into the Eregion, Sauron would acquire a lot of new servants who might be ready to serve the menacing villain. On the other hand, in Numenor, Elendil is being tried for treason. Even though he renounces his crimes, he refuses to take Pharazôn as the new ruler of the kingdom. So, an advisor suggests that Valar should decide his fate. As a result, a trial takes place in the sea that is ruled by a gigantic sea worm. However,Miriel comes to the sceneand takes Elendil’s place at the trial. After a scary encounter with the sea monster, Miriel is deemed “innocent” by Valar and people start calling her “The Queen of the Sea.”

Apart from that,The Rings of Powerseason 2 continues to see King Durin making wrong decisions. He even says “no” to Lord Annatar when he visits Khazad-dûm for more Mithril. Initially, Prince Durin is relieved that his father has made a wise decision. However, when King Durin tells him about his supposed plan, Prince Durin understands that the ring is making him greedier with each passing day. That’s what Sauron wants. Greed has always been a big part of J. R. R. Tolkien’s writings inThe Lord of the Rings, serving as a key way he portrays Sauron’s character. The rings serve as a medium to manipulate other bright minds of Middle Earth and tell them that rings are here to make things better for them and their kingdoms. But it’s already been established that rings work how Sauron wants them to work.

The sixth episode ofThe Rings of Powerseason 2 ends with the show’s darkest moment yet. The orcs have reached closer to the Eregion and planning to attack soon. The sound of the siege alarm echoes in the city and when Celebrimbor decides to see what has happened, Sauron uses his powers to show Celebrimbor that Eregion is safe and people are living their lives peacefully. On the contrary, everyone is scared and running for their lives. In the final moments of the episode, it’s easy to guess that the “sack of Eregion” has begun and Sauron feels that he is very close to accomplishing his mission. Overall, the episodeWhere Is Heacts as the calm before the storm. Eregion is on the brink of disaster, and no one seems to know how to face the impending chaos. It is also a reminder of how powerful Sauron is. The closing moments of the episode would send fans into a frenzy and make them excited about what lies ahead.

The Rings of Powerseason 2is slowly and steadily reaching towards its end. With war in sight, viewers might get a good detailed look at how Elves try to stop the Orcs from entering the Eregion. A solid episode with a perfect mix of storytelling and elements such as betrayal, sorcery, and aspirations.
