Summary
Cooperative survival horror gameLethal Companyhas received a new update for early September, and while it’s not particularly large, it includes a new item that should make the game’s very limited on-person inventory space a lot easier to manage. Since continued survival inLethal Companyis entirely dependent on a player or team’s ability to gather scrap, managing carrying capacity is paramount, and the new Tactical Belt Bag will help out greatly in that respect.
Entering Early Access in October 2023,Lethal Companyis based around teams of up to four workers traveling to different planets to collect scrap and meet monetary quotas, lest the company flush them into the coldness of space. Theindie game has been a big success, drawing on the recent rise in popularity of co-op games.
The newest update to the game wasrevealed in a postfrom developer Zeekerss on its Steam community page. Though only three items are listed in the Version 64 notes, one is the addition of the Tactical Belt Bag as an item that can be purchased through the on-ship computer. The belt includes 15 slots that can only be filled with non-scrap items, so players won’t be able to load it up with valuables to bring back to the company in exchange for their continued existence. Rather, when attached to a player’s waist, the items in the belt’s pouches will be accessible by all players, letting one player servea team role inLethal Companyas a mobile hub carrying extra tactical items such as flashlights and walkie talkies while simultaneously freeing up the team’s other slots to carry back as much scrap as possible.
Lethal Company Version 64 Notes
In addition to a note about bug fixes, the other new feature in the game is a rare weather event. The event, which was not specified in the notes, can occur on any day at any time, but it only has a 0.6 percent chance of triggering. From a look at community posts, it doesn’t seem anyone has shared any experiences with the new weather event yet, butweather effects inLethal Companycan be game changers, adding dangers like lightning that can wipe out players holding metal scrap and quicksand brought about by heavy rain.
Zeekerss noted in the notes that while the update is small, it has been working on a different project,Welcome to the Dark Place, but wanted to release the update now rather than wait to unveil its new features. Originally planned for release on Steam in early 2020,Welcome to the Dark Placelooks like it will bring a choices-matter feel to theindie horror genre.
