Kathryn Hahn broke her silence about Agatha Harkness' future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). She finally addressed whether the witch from Salem, Massachusetts, would appear in the nextAvengersmovie.
Hahn made her MCU debut as the campy ancient witch inWandaVisionin 2021. She portrayed the character so well that she became a fan-favorite, with the audience loving her winks, cackles and laughs. Hahn spoke withRolling Stoneand shared her thoughts about Agatha possibly being featured in the upcoming MCU movies. She has no opposition to it, but she believes that she will only get an offer if her appearance is necessary.“I think I’d only be asked if it was necessary and juicy. So, who knows? The craziest, most perfect, side-door entrance to this world is to be a witch. It feels wicked step-sister-y. And I really like it like that,“Hahn shared.
Hahn’s role inWandaVisionwas deemed by many as a scene-stealing sort of side character. However, she doesn’t think that’s the case. She agreed that her role was a “tricky thing,” but she seemed to expect a spinoff from the start. “From the beginning, we always joked that it would just be so annoying to Agatha Harkness that she wouldn’t have her own fricking show,” Hahn added. In the same interview, Hahn was also asked if there were challenges or if she did anything to match with her character after a three-year break. “What if I was like, ‘I had to sing ‘Agatha All Along’ for my kids while they’re held hostage on the couch, seven times backwards. Each time in a different language. And then eat eye of newt,'” she jokingly said. She clarified, however, that she needed not prepare to match the role perfectly despite the long hiatus because Agatha Harkness was “already baked in there.”
