This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shinjuku Showdown Arc.

Summary

Jujutsu Kaisenrecently wrapped up its latest arc and it is safe to say it was loaded with some of the most incredible fights that fans have seen in the series. From Gojo versus Sukuna, to the raid on Ryomen Sukuna, this arc had some great battles. But, Jujutsu Kaisen’sShinjuku Showdown arc left a lot to be desired, and, clearly, many fans feel that a lot of the plot points that the series set up and wasn’t able to successfully tackle, could be tackled later down the line if there is a continuation of some sort.

It had already been announced by the author that Shinjuku Showdown was going to be the last arc ofJujutsu Kaisenlong ago, and that with the completion of this arc, the series will finally conclude. Right now, there are only three more chapters left in the series, which is certainly not enough to wrap up all the existing plot points. Clearly, fans want a sequel to the series, but whether or not that is possible is a different question entirely.

The End Jujutsu Kaisen’s Last Arc Saw Yuji Defeat Sukuna

Jujutsu Kaisen’s last arc was heavily focused on Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses. It can be said that this arc was entirely about Sukuna showcasing what he was truly capable of, and testing his skill against the best of the modern era. Sukuna fought Gojo at the very beginning of this arc, and it is safe to say that this fight was the greatest that the manga had to offer to the fans. It was full of non-stop action, and certainly a clash that will be remembered for generations. Both of them were evenly matched for the most part, but, in the end, only one could have gone on to claim victory, and that person was none other than Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses.

Immediately after the death of Gojo, fans got to see other sorcerers jump on the battlefield and take on the King of Curses in a raid. The goal here was to free Megumi Fushiguro, and prevent the Merger from happening. This is where the protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori, took up a massive role in the story, and he certainly delivered upon all expectations. Before this Arc, Yuji was just a small sorcerer who did not have many feats to his name. However, after the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Yuji is now seen as one of the strongest of all time, with potential equal to that of Sukuna. While many fighters aided Yuji in this incredibly exciting clash, at the end of things, it simply boiled down to a one-on-one baffle between Yuji and the King of Curses. Thanks to the awakening of multiple powers throughout this fight, Yuji was able to push back a King of Curses and, eventually, open his domain.

This is also where Megumi started fighting back more, and,at the same time, Nobara returned as well.Together, they created the perfect circumstances for Yuji to take down Sukuna, and that is precisely what happened. Yuji’s domain expansion marked Sukuna’s defeat, and the King of Curses was essentially left for dead.

Megumi was freed from Sukuna’s clutches, while the King of Curses himself was left in a pathetic blob of slime. Sukuna had nowhere to go, and, for the very first time, he felt like he was hunted. Knowing that he was at the end of his life, Sukuna essentially acknowledged that he had lost, and for the very first time in his life, he tasted defeat. Even though Yuji offered him a helping hand, he did not accept it and simply dissipated. Now, the remaining three chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen are going to be focusing on the post-war events, and with that, the story will finally conclude.

Is There Room For A Sequel?

Jujutsu Kaisen Could Have Exciting Things To Tackle In Part 2

Jujutsu Kaisenonly had a few major villains for the fans to witness. While the story certainly had many exciting antagonists, the only ones that truly felt were worth their salt were Kenjaku and Sukuna. When it comes to Kenjaku, fans considered him to be a massive threat, even though in terms of power, he was not as great as Sukuna. Still, Kenjaku posed a certain level of threat. Unfortunately, the finale to this character was somewhat disappointing and he essentially met an anti-climactic end as he lost without even a fight.

Meanwhile,Sukuna, the King of Curses, died at the end of his battle against Yuji, and this was also somewhat disappointing. Fans certainly did get to see a lot from him, but he failed to go out in a fashion where he would be remembered for ages. Essentially, the author built up the villain to be unbeatable, but he failed to nail the ending of this character. There is no doubting the fact that Sukuna should have died a horrible death, just as he did. However, the build-up to that should have been better and his final clash against Yuji was somewhat repetitive.

Now, theJujutsu KaisenWorld does not have any antagonist strong enough to hope for a Part 2. However, what does give fans hope in regards to getting a Part 2 in this story is the fact that there are several plot points that are left unresolved. For instance, Fushiguro is a character that barely got any screen time in Jujutsu Kaisen, and, if there is a Part 2, then, this character can be truly elaborated upon and fleshed out properly. The same applies to Nobara, who was missing for the vast majority of the story.

Yuji only recently awakened his powers, but fans can say for sure they expected more from his abilities which weren’t illustrated in the best of ways. Meanwhile,Nobara only returned for one significant momentat the end, and it would certainly be much more exciting if she were to play an active role in the series that actually leads to progression for her character.

Should Jujutsu Kaisen Be Getting A Sequel Or Part 2?

Jujutsu Kaisen Should Continue To Finish The Set Up Plot Points

Given the unsatisfactory ending to many characters and unresolved plot points, especiallysurrounding the secrets of Tengen, Kenjaku, Sukuna’s past, and the Merger, one can say thatJJKPart 2 would be nice to see. It would also help solve the plot point about Jujutsu Society being a home to curses, which both Yuki and Geto wanted to solve. This plot point remains unresolved too.

There are many plot points in the story that can be focused on in a much better way if there is a sequel. However, the question of whether there will be a sequel or not is one that fans have an answer to already. As has been made clear, Gege has been struggling with health related issues. This has also contributed towards a premature ending for this series. At this point,Gege doesn’t aim to continueJujutsu Kaisen. In the future, there can always be a part 2. But, given the way he concluded his story, there isn’t a threat big enough to warrant a part two or a sequel at this point. And, for any sequel, Gege first needs to recover properly.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapp. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 269, is set to be Jun 08, 2025.
