This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shinjuku Showdown Arc.
Summary
Jujutsu Kaisenhas officially seen the end of the Shinjuku showdown, which saw many powerful Sorcerers go head to head withthe King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. Sukuna was, by far, the strongest threat to humanity inJJK, and needed to be dealt with.
Of course, dealing with Sukuna required the best of all the main characters of the series, and all of them did their part in taking him down. Naturally, the contributions certainly differed, and only the strongest and the most important of characters played the biggest roles in the battle against him.
8Nobara
Joined The Battle At The End
Nobara Kugisaki returned at the very end of the fight against Sukuna. While she only played a small role in the battle, it was enough to save the life of Yuji Itadori and deal deadly soul damage to Sukuna. Nobara’s Resonance hits the soul pretty hard, and she did just that, allowing Yuji to land his powerful Black Flash and preventing Sukuna from opening his domain against him.
She might not have played an extended role in the fight, but, just one Resonance was enough to put the king of curses on his knees.
7Ui Ui
Played A Support Role
Ui Ui is quite an underrated character, especially in terms of what he did in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. He did not engage Sukuna in battle directly. However, he certainly did facilitate the survival of many characters. For instance, when Gojo Satoru died, he was the one who secured his body and transported him somewhere else.
When Yuta was struck down, he was able to teleport him to a different location, and he did the same with the likes of Higuruma, and even Kusakabe. It was because of him thatYuta was able to switch bodies to Gojo, and that Gojo could return to the battlefield again, preventing Sukuna from ending Itadori in battle.
6Choso
Jumped In After Gojo’s Defeat
Choso was not a significant character in the battle against Sukuna directly. These two hardly even engaged in combat, and when they did, Sukuna was significantly superior, which was evident to the fans.
However, Choso did contribute greatly by saving Yuji Itadori from the wrath of the King of Curses. When Sukuna unleashed his domain and launched the powerful Furnace technique, which would have incinerated and destroyed everyone, it wasChoso who sacrificed his life to create a barriermade from blood around his brother. He ended up dying, but Yuji survived and that is precisely what he wanted. By saving Yuji, he saved everyone.
5Maki Zenin
Jumped In After Gojo’s Fall
Maki Zenin played a significant role in Shinjuku Showdown, and she did so by stabbing Sukuna’s heart right after she joined. She also kept him busy in the battle, allowing for Yuji to recover and hit him on many occasions.
Maki also ate two powerful black flashes from the King of Curses, and, even that aside, her performance against him was certainly incredibly intense. That said, she could have contributed more if Gege had allowed her to.
4Aoi Todo
Joined After Divine Flame
Aoi Todo returned to the battlefield in the most shocking manner, after the death of Choso. Fans were not expecting to see him, but he returned stronger than ever before, and this time, with renewed Boogie Woogie. He replaced his hand with a vibraslap, which now allows him to make up to 50 swaps per second, and, by making a Blinding Vow, he can reduce the number of swaps and increase his range.
Essentially, Todo was unstoppable and even the King of Curses admitted that he couldn’t do much against him. It was because of him that most sorcerers, including the likes of Maki, Ino, Miwa, and others, were able to survive Sukuna’s Furnace. He also facilitated several Black Flashes for Yuji, and allowed Angel to launch her powerful Jacob’s Ladder from above.
3Yuta Okkotsu
Kept Sukuna On The Ropes
Yuta Okkotsu was certainly one of the biggest players in the fight against Sukuna, and that was expected. Yuta took away Kenjaku’s insurance by killing him right at the beginning of the raid. Then, he jumped on the battlefield and showcased his Domain Expansion against Sukuna. Inside his domain, he weakened the King of Curses significantly. Even though he was cut down by the World Splitting Dismantle, he returned, this time, with Gojo’s body.
He was able to utilize Unlimited Void and then, attacked the King of Curses with a powerful Hollow Purple. Of course, his Hollow Purple was lacking in strength because he wasn’t used to either the technique or the body. But, his performance was certainly magnificent and he saved Yuji on more than one occasion.
2Yuji Itadori
Awakened Great Powers In Shinjuku
The protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori contributed directly to the battle against Sukuna. It was because of his soul-damaging punches that Sukuna was essentially defeated.
Yuji combined these punches with incredible techniques, such as Dismantle, and essentially brought the King of Curses to his knees. He managed to open his domain and defeated the King of Curses inside. Had iGojo not been the star of the show, Yuji would most certainly be number one.
1Gojo Satoru
The Strongest Fought The King
The Strongest Modern Sorcerer, Gojo was the biggest contributor in the battle against Sukuna. Gojo fought a very powerful version of Sukuna, given that he had access to not just one but two Innate Techniques, those being the 10 Shadows Technique and the Shrine. Despite that, Gojo was able to hold him off easily, and weakened him tremendously.
Gojo stripped the 10 Shadows Technique from Sukuna by destroying Mahoraga. At the same time, he also took away his domain from him by using Unlimited Void and damaging his brain, and if that wasn’t enough, he took away his reverse cursed technique from him as well, which essentially meant that neither his domain nor his ability to refill his burnt out technique was available to him. Without Gojo, the battle would have ended long ago. In fact, he would most likely have defeated Sukuna on his ownhad Mahoraga not been present.
