Summary
The New Shadow Style has been a part ofJujutsu Kaisenfor quite some time now. Fans know this style to be extremely common among the three great families, and at the same time, individuals who donot bear any cursed technique. Of course, this is an incredibly exciting fighting style, and one that the author could have expanded upon greatly in the story but chose not to for various reasons.
Now, however, in one of the last few chapters ofJJK, the author has revealed quite a lot of exciting information pertaining to the New Shadow Style, which, although feels out of place, certainly does add a lot of depth to the story.
What Is The New Shadow Style in Jujutsu Kaisen?
The New Shadow Style is certainly an incredibly effective power, especially for those who do not possess any cursed technique. Fans have seen the Simple Domain being one of its most effective abilities, and, not only is it a boon to those who do not possess innate abilities, but it is also a boon to thosewho fight powerful domain expansions. For instance, even someone like Gojo made use of Simple Domain in his battle against Sukuna, and that just goes to show how incredible this technique truly is. The Simple Domain is a game changer when it comes to a life or death domain battle. It is one of the only few powers strong enough to defend against a domain expansion. Of course, against very powerful domains, even a Simple Domain isn’t strong enough. However, it can certainly take the brunt of the damage, and end up being life-saving. This is especially true against sorcerers of the same caliber as Sukuna. For instance, in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, when Sukuna unleashed his 99 second Malevolent Shrine, had it not been for the Simple Domain, all the sorcerers would have fallen.
The likes of Yuji, Maki, Choso, and many others would most likely have died on the battlefield, and they only managed to survive because of their ability to utilize Simple Domain. If one cannot expand their own domain to combat another, the Simple Domain is one of the most effective powers to tackle a domain expansion, which makes it incredibly amazing.
The Leader Of The New Shadow Style And The Restrictions
A Mysterious Leader Takes Lifespan Of The Students Of The New Shadow Style
The New Shadow Style, or, in other words, the power which makes full use of the Simple Domain, was essentially crafted by Sadatsuna Ashiya, a mastermind who had essentially caused the Simple Domain to be bound to a family lineage. This meant that only certain individuals with a certain bloodline could learn the Simple Domain at first. Of course, his goal was to help his disciples fight against Domain Expansions and defend against their powerful Sure-Hit Effect without having a domain of their own. Ashiya put certain Binding Vows that prevented the Simple Domain from getting into the hands of powerful curses, and other enemies. However, over time, things changed greatly, and the Simple Domain essentially became a trade secret. This means that it went from being something that was passed down through a family to something that could be traded and spread to multiple families and individuals.

In other words, those who then learned Simple Domain established a monopoly over at. They took many disciples and made unreasonable demands for passing on the power of the Simple Domain. These unreasonable demands were, in many ways, life-threatening. Of course, from the outside, it might simply look like the unreasonable demand is to not pass on the technique to someone who’s not a disciple of the New Shadow Style. However, that is not all. As was explained in JJK chapter 269, there are other unreasonable demands that the leaders of the New Shadow Style used to make until recently.
The demands included answering commands of deployment from the leader of the New Shadow Style at any point, without even so much as asking a question or rejecting the order. This had to be a part of the contract, which meant that any student of the New Shadow Style could do nothing against it. To make things worse, only the leader of the New Shadow Style could undo these rules, but their identity was always kept hidden.
This wasn’t even the only demand the New Shadow Style leader had. The other demand was consuming lifespan. In many ways, this wasn’t even a contractual exchange. This was simply a curse placed on the disciples. While things aren’t exactly clear as to how this power worked, but, in exchange for learning the Simple Domain and becoming a student of the New Shadow Style, the lifespan of certain individuals was taken from them. This lifespan would certainly add greatly to the life of the leader, and, if they were to ever die, then, someone within the main ranks Of the organization would go on to become the new leader. Clearly, the identity of the new leader was also kept a secret at all times, which made it nearly impossible to ever break the curse of the New Shadow Style.
The New Leader Of The New Shadow Style
As was explained inJJKchapter 269, Mei Mei saw to it that the previous leader of New Shadow Style was essentially killed. The one who provided her with information on this was none other than Tengen. They led Mei Mei know who the current leader of the New Shadow Style was, what she intended to do, and where exactly she was. Mei Mei found her, and got rid of her. In doing so, the next leader of the New Shadow Stylewas none other than Kusakabein JJK, and, with him becoming the new leader, all the restrictions on the New Shadow Style were essentially removed. This explains why Yuji was able to learn the New Shadow Style: Simple Domain without giving anything in return.

This technique is not a life-threatening exchange anymore, which certainly does aid many sorcerers. As put by Mei Mei in the chapter, had sorcerers been able to use the Simple Domain more easily, many lives would have been spared.
While Kusakabe is the current leader of the New Shadow Style, eventually, the one who’s going to take this position is none other than Ui Ui, and when that happens,he and Mei Mei plan on making a fortune out of it, as they will take payment from the newer disciples who are willing to learn the powers. Essentially, and it was certainly very intriguing, to say the least.
In the future, fans will most definitelysee more Simple Domain usersin JJK, and at the same time, it will also be interesting to see how this technique spreading at a faster rate affects Jujutsu society as a whole. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough time for fans to see that, unless a sequel were to happen, but, it is certainly an intriguing plot point, to say the least.
