This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 269.
Summary
Jujutsu Kaisenis currently incredibly close to the end of the manga, and fans know that right now, the author is simply doing his best to tie up as many plot threads as possible. Of course, the battle in Shinjuku is finally over, which means that fans will only get major reveals in the upcoming chapters, with the story focusing on quite a lot of exciting lore, and possibly a new world order being set up in Japan.JJKchapter 269 opened up the door to that, thanks to quite a lot of information about the three great clans, and at the same time, lore about Tengen as well.
However, the question that fans wanted answered the most in JJK chapter 269 was pertaining to the death of Yuta. Finally, the answer has been revealed and it is safe to say thateveryone’s favorite young sorcerer has finally returned.
Yuta’s Failure At Taking Down Sukuna
Yuta Okkotsu played a significant role in the battle against Sukuna. In fact, it can be said thathe was the MVP of the Shinjuku Showdown after Gojo.Yuta was the one who essentially kicked Kenjaku out of the game. Thanks to Todo’s help, Yuta was able to lop his head right off, and then, not just stab him right through the brain, but at the same time, he also managed to copy his technique after having Rika eat him. And, Yuta returned to the main battlefield, where he fought against Sukuna inside his domain, Authentic Mutual Love. This domain expansion was incredibly powerful and it could even have defeated Sukuna, had it not been for Megumi’s lack of willpower.
Let’s go save Okkotsu senpai! – Yuji
Unfortunately, all of Yuta’s efforts were in vain when Megumi rejected the helping hand, and he was in turn struck down by Sukuna’s World Splitting Dismantle. Yuta was then transported by Ui Ui using his technique, and that is where he utilized the power of the technique he copied from Kenjaku. Using the power of Copy, Yuta jumped to Gojo’s body and then took this body to the battlefield, once again facing off against the King of Curses. Yuta was significantly stronger in this body, but he still had a lot of trouble, especially because he was not used to fighting in Gojo’s body, and adjusting to it was incredibly difficult.
This sequence just went to show the fans that Gojo had trained relentlessly to be able to master his powers, and that Yuta realized this the hard way. Even when Yuta managed to fire off a Hollow Purple at Sukuna, it did not land perfectly, and was far from what Gojo threw at the King of Curses. Unfortunately, with that, his time in Gojo’s body ran out, which simply meant that Yuta’s fate was left in a suspended state. Fans did not know what exactly happened to Yuta and that is precisely why JJK chapter 268 set up quite a lot of exciting events for the fans to look forward to, including Yuta’s revival.
How Yuta Returned In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 269
Yuta Was Saved By Rika Once Again
JJK chapter 269 finally confirmed the return of Yuta. Fans knew that Yuta had returned in last week’s chapter. In fact, Yuji had already mentioned that Yuta was back, but they needed to save him. In this week’s chapter, it was confirmed to the fans that they needed to save him from none other than Maki and that he was already back at this point in the story. This was because Maki was incredibly upset at Yuta for doing what he did, and now, it was explained to the fans what exactly happened after Yuta lost control of Gojo’s body. Essentially, Kenjaku’s technique ran out, and that simply meant that he could not connect with Rika anymore due to being in Gojo’s body. But, as soon as his technique ran out and rebooted,Rika was able to reconnect with Yuta’s body, which had already died. Essentially, Rika was able to utilize her own healing powers and maintain a connection to the living world for Yuta through herself. Without Rika, Yuta would most likely have died. But, thanks to her presence, Yuta managed to keep a live link to his main body, and, later on, one thing led to another and Yuta’s main brain was likely transplanted back to his own body.
Thanks to Rika, Yuta was able to survive, and now, fans know that the strongest modern sorcerer after Gojo is alive and well.Yuta must have learned a ton in Gojo’s body, and he carries all that experience into his own, making him stronger than ever before.
As for what happened to Gojo, fans do not know yet. The fact is, if Yuta managed to return to his body despite having died, Gojo has a big shot at returning as well. Fans will likely find out more about this later down the line inJJK, and hopefully, the author won’t shy away from revealing what exactly happened to him, and if he truly is back or not. Hopefully,JJKchapter 270 or 271 is going to focus on all that.
Yuta’s Future In The JJK Series
Yuta Has A Lot To Offer To JJK Still
Yuta Okkotsu doesn’t seem to have a specific role cut out for him in the series right now. In fact, the same goes for the vast majority of the sorcerers that fans know. This is simply down to the fact that Jujutsu Kaisen is ending, and there doesn’t seem to be anything left for the sorcerers to do other than simply talk things out and possibly set up a better society for the future. Yuta won’t have much to do right now, but that doesn’t mean that in any potential JJK sequel, he will simply sit by idly. After the potential death of Gojo, fans know for a fact that Yuta is now the strongest, rivaled by a few individuals, such as Yuji, among others. Yuta must now lead by example, and without him, the society will utterly collapse.
Let me take over your body, Gojo Sensei! – Yuta
Essentially, Yuta will have to be the new Gojo, which means that he will have to bear the brunt of the burden of JJK’s sorcerer society, and defend everyone from the malicious cursed spirits. At the same time, fans know for a fact that Yuta will also have to carry the burden of raising the next generation, because they will all be expecting great things from him. Of course, in simple words,Yuta is the next Gojo, despite not being as strong as him. He will have to carry on his responsibilities, and set an example for the upcoming generation.
At this point, even the ending that Yuta got feels underwhelming, and the only thing that can save it is a sequel for Jujutsu Kaisen, which remains only a dream for the fans.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapp. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 269, is set to be July 15, 2025.
