Summary

It has been nearly two years since Ken Levine’s upcoming first-person shooterJudaswas announced at the 2022 Game Awards, with little more information about a release date given than “by March 2025.” Since its announcement, Levine and his studio, Ghost Story Games, have popped in on occasion to reveal more about its gameplay, including its innovativenarrative LEGO worldbuilding system. While this has been a blessing to those looking forward to the game, these revelations only build anticipation. Unfortunately, that anticipation ends up becoming more like a double-edged sword due toJudas' lack of a definite release date.

As March 2025 grows closer,Judasis running out of time to reveal a more concrete release window, unless Ghost Story plans to shadow-drop it at some point. In light of that — and assuming the developer isn’t planning a shadow release forJudas— a release window needs to be revealed sooner rather than later, especially with more and more highly anticipated video game releases being planned for the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025. This would not only establishJudas' place in the upcoming lineup of games but also relieve any fans who might be concerned about whether it will remain faithful to its initial projection.

It’s Time for Judas to Narrow Down a Release Window

Late 2024 and Early 2025 Are Becoming Increasingly Stacked With Big Releases

When considering whether it would be a good move forJudasto announce its releasewindow sooner rather than later, it’s important to examine its competition. As it turns out, late 2024 and early 2025 are becoming increasingly stacked with big releases, putting pressure onJudasto bite the bullet and speak up.

Other notable releases include theSilent Hill 2remake on October 8,A Quiet Place: The Road AheadandSuper Mario Party Jamboreeon October 17, andLife Is Strange: Double Exposureon October 29. It’s also possible thatMonster Hunter Wildswill launchin either February or March of 2025.

Just asAvowedwas delayedin favor of players' backlogs,Judasmay need to do the same if it doesn’t establish a release window soon. Currently, its best bet might be to launch sometime between November 2024 and January 2025. However, doing so might cause it to get overlooked by the chaos of the holidays. Furthermore, November is only a couple of months away, leavingJudaswith very little time to announce a release date if it chooses to launch that soon. At the very least,Judasneeds to put its foot down and save its spot in line, or it may not have a spot to begin with.

At the Very Least, Judas Needs to Ease the Worries of Any Concerned Fans

It’s possible that, by now, fans who have been eagerly awaitingJudasare beginning to become concerned about whether the game is doing well from a development standpoint, simply because its release projections are so broad. Stories likeHollow Knight: Silksongcomes to mind, which was announced in 2019 and has yet to see the light of day, moving fans to question whether they will ever get to play it. Of course,Judashas a different story, being only two years into its announcement. However, if a delay were to be announced, it would undoubtedly inflict more worry on those who have been waiting forJudas. In light of that,Judaswould be better off getting a firm release window sooner rather than later.
