Summary
Under new management for nearly nine months now, the DCU is undergoing quite a few changes and resets. That includes a new series entering production of Max which will feature John Stewart and Hal Jordan inLanterns.
DCU chiefJames Gunnhas been hard at work over the last few weeks finding the right actors to play the two main characters, and for a while, it looked like he’dfound his Hal Jordanin Josh Brolin. While those rumors eventually fell apart, and the veteran actor eventually reportedly passed on the deal, Gunn might have teased that he has indeed found one of the show’s stars.
Intypical James Gunn fashion, the famed writer, director and producer didn’t come right out and announce the new hire. He did however take to his Instagram account and post a comic book picture of John Stewart. Once he made that post, it took no time at all for his social media followers to jump to the conclusion that he was teasing an official announcement that was close.
James Gunn Hints At Lanterns Star
Because the post was just a picture of Stewart and didn’t include any caption,DCU fans are left simply hopingthe picture is a hint that one of the stars ofLanternshas officially been chosen. At the same time, the fact that he’s been working to find the cast of the show would seem to indicate that Gunn is closing to getting his man, if it hasn’t happened already.
Other than a basic plot outline that will focus onseveral members of the Green Lantern Corps, there isn’t a ton known about the project. Questions around who will be on the cast are just the beginning as the Max series doesn’t yet have a release date or even how many episodes the show will have in its first season. For that matter, there isn’t yet any information as to whether or not this is a limited series with just one season or whether its supposed to go down the same road asPeacekeeperorDoom Patroland run as long as there are viewers watching.
Nathan Fillion Still the Only Official Lantern
So far, the only member of theLanternscast that is officially on board is Nathan Fillion, who will take on the role of Guy Gardner, yet another member of the corps in the comics. Most often in the comics, Gardner and Stewart operate as the main active members of the Green Lantern Corps while Hal Jordan has since relinquished his role as one of earth’s guardians. Presumably that’s why Brolin was thought to be taking on that role, starring as a more seasoned and perhaps even totally retired hero.
Some rumors of theplot forLanternssaid that Jordan’s character will be a mentor to a younger, “hotheaded” John Stewart. That means a younger actor will likely take on the role though at this point, Gunn has managed to keep any rumors of who might be in the lead to take on one of the lead role inLanternsalmost completely under wraps
