The alien planet inSatisfactoryis mostly peaceful, but while players are exploring the map, they’ll eventually encounter some hostile wildlife along the way. Ranged weapons are great for taking care of predators, but if you want to be more efficient, the game has a variety of ammo types for you to use.
Changing ammo types is fairly simple, but some players might not be aware that they can do this. Default ammo types are usually less effective than specialized ones, and if you want to avoid somecommon beginner mistakes inSatisfactory, you’ll want to make the most of the resources you have.
How To Use Different Ammo Types In Satisfactory
Ranged weapons all have varying kinds of ammo that serve different purposes. After making any of these alternate munitions,players can press and hold their reload key (R by default) to bring up an ammo selection wheel. From here, you’ll be able to select any of the ammo types you have in your inventory for the weapon you currently have in your hands.
Naturally, if you have only one type of ammo in your inventory, it will automatically get selected as your preferred ammo type. If you don’t want to bother with swapping ammunition all the time,simply bring enough stacks of one ammo type before heading out for an expedition. Vehicles like theTractor inSatisfactoryhave extra storage space for placing any extra ammo and materials, making them invaluable for exploration.
All Ammo Types In Satisfactory
There arethree different ranged weapons in the game as of writing, and they all usewildly different kinds of ammo. Getting a gun isn’t exactly one of thefirst things players should do inSatisfactory, but one will come in handy once you start exploring the map for caves and crash sites. All weapons and ammunition can behand-crafted at an Equipment Workshop, or automated via Constructors, Assemblers, and Manufacturers.
Rebar Gun
This is a basic ranged weapon that basically acts like a breech-loaded, single-shot pistol. It uses rebar as ammo, and it can be loaded with different kinds of rebar that have varying effects.
Basic ammo. Cheap, but has low power.
Explosive munitions that deal heavy damage.
Rifle
A simple automatic weapon. Good for rapidly eliminating targets. Effectiveness varies greatly depending on what ammo is used.
Basic ammunition. Simple, but effective against weak targets.
Homing Rifle Ammo
Target-seeking ammunition. Deals greater damage and increases Rifle fire rate. Each craft yields 10 bullets.
Turbo Rifle Ammo
High-power ammunition. Magazine capacity is increased to 75, and fire rate increases drastically as the trigger is held. Accuracy is gradually reduced as the fire rate goes up.
Nobelisk Detonator
A remote-controlled explosives detonator designed for blasting operations. It can be used to clear rocks and enable the mining of various resources likeIron inSatisfactory. Explosives can also be used to clear hostile wildlife or dense vegetation.
Pulse Nobelisk
Produces a shockwave instead of a kinetic explosion. Can be used for player propulsion.
Gas Nobelisk
Used to create lethal gas clouds. Good for clearing hostile fauna.
Miniature nuclear bomb. Detonates and coats an area with radiation.
