For many fans of theScreamfranchise, fall is the perfect month to binge the six movie series, but streaming them all can be a little tricky, and requires subscriptions to multiple services. The first movie,Scream, debuted in 1996, and it became instantly iconic due to its meta take on horror movie clichés. With each sequel, theScreamfranchise continues its tongue-in-cheek examination of horror conventions, and the series shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

Screamwas a smash hit when it debuted, andhorror movie fans had never seen anythinglike it. From the opening scene, when Drew Barrymore gets killed off, to Neve Campbell’s triumphant final girl moment in the end,Screamkept audiences guessing. Ghostface became a cultural icon, and demand for a sequel was high. Director Wes Craven was only too happy to oblige, and got right to work. Fans would only have to wait a year forScream 2to hit screens, and four more sequels would follow:Scream 3,Scream 4,Scream(the fifth in the franchise), and, most recently,Scream VI. There was even a three-season TV Show produced by MTV that was very loosely based on the film series.A seventh movie,Scream 7,is currently in production, but there are few details and no release date as of yet.

Where To Stream Scream 1 Through 4

Though it would be nice to have all six movies streaming on one service, nobody ever said life was simple. Currently, the franchise is split among a few different streaming services, so binging the series could take a little work. However, if it’s just the first four movies you’re looking to watch,Scream 1through4can befound on HBO Max.

The first threeScreammovies were released within a few years of each other, while the fourth was released in 2011. However, the first four movies in the franchise wereall directed by Wes Craven, so those tend to be grouped together. It makes sense thatScream 1, 2, 3,and4are streaming on the same service, and it’s very convenient for anyone looking for a scary movie binge. However, if the first fourScreammovies don’t fully satiate your desire for blood, gore, and meta commentary, you’ll have to look outside HBO Max.

Where To Stream Scream And Scream VI

After the release ofScream 4, many fans assumed the franchise had come to a close—especially after Wes Craven’s death in 2015. However, the franchise was resurrected in 2022 with the fifth movie, confusingly titled,Scream. The next sequel,Scream VI, was released the following year. BothScream(2022) andScream VIare available to stream on Paramount+(Scream IVis available on Fubo as well).

These two sequels had the same directors and introduced new recurring characters to the franchise, including Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera as sisters Tara and Sam. Like the first fourScreammovies, the fifth and sixth are differentiated, and as such, those two movies are available on different streaming services. Though it makes sense in terms of the eras in which the movies were released, it does make a full binge a bit more difficult.

Where To Stream The Scream TV Series

There’smore to theScreamfranchisethan just the (currently) six movies. Though it’s not considered canon to theScreamfilm series,Scream: The TV Seriespremiered on MTV in 2015. The TV series, which spanned three seasons, is completely different from the movie franchise. It features all new characters, a new story, and even the Ghostface mask and costume are reimagined. While all three seasons used to be available on Netflix, contract disputes have madeScream: The TV Seriesavailable only to rent or buythrough Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Vudu.

However, this could be a blessing in disguise, as thereception forScream: The TV Serieswas mixed, at best, and even with some redeeming factors, the TV show just isn’t on the same level as the movies. If you’ve watched all sixScreammovies and arestilldesperate for more, then the TV series may be for you, but it doesn’t come as highly recommended as the movies.

Scream

The Scream movie and TV franchise began with the release of the first film in 1996. Directed by horror master Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson, the deconstruction of slasher movies was an instant cultural, critical, and financial hit. Neve Campbell, who plays ongoing final girl Sidney Prescott, has become a horror icon in her own right, along with Ghostface, the only horror villain whose identity is always changing. Nearly three decades later, the Scream franchise shows no signs of slowing down.
