Maintaining a steady source of electricity is a crucial part of base building inOnce Human. Without power, some facilities will not work, and others may not function at optimal levels. Using Biomass Generators is one way to get electricity flowing in your base, though they might not always be reliable.

While using solar panels enhanced byOnce Human’sElectric Eel deviationis a great way to get a lot of power early on, some players may find that doing this is simply not enough to supply all of their important base facilities. Biomass Generators provide significantly more power, but there are some caveats that come with their usage.

How To Build And Use Biomass Generators In Once Human

Biomass Generators are locked under thePower Upgrade Imemetic in the Logistics tree, and it can be unlocked by spending 2000 Energy Links and 7 Cyphers. Since this counts as a higher-tier blueprint, Biomass Generators generally won’t be available during the first week of a fresh server, and in those cases, players will need to wait for the next server phase to unlock.

To build a Biomass Generator, you’ll need the following resources

These can be found by looting [areas] and dismantling them at a Disassembly Bench. Meanwhile, you’re able to findAluminum Ore inOnce Humanby exploring the Chalk Peak and Red Sands regions. Copper Ore is everywhere, but you can much more of them in the Daytone Wetlands. As a reminder, Electric Furnaces are better than regular ones because they do not require Charcoal to function. This will be important later on.

Using Biomass Generators

Once you have enough materials, place the Biomass Generator on a flat spot somewhere on your base. Unlike Solar Generators, these require fuel to operate. In exchange, they generate more power, making them much more efficient to use if we consider the limitation on the number of generators one can build in their territory.

Biomass Generators require organic resources in order to run. Wood counts as an organic resource, and this is why transitioning to Electric Furnaces is recommended — since you won’t need Charcoal anymore, you may use any wood you get as fuel. You can easily gather thousands of Logs by using a chainsaw on some trees.

Since these generators need to be manually fueled, building a fuel container next to them is recommended. Getting aLogging Beaver inOnce Humanis also a great way to maintain a steady stockpile of wood.

It’s usually best not to destroy any Solar Generators once you get a Biomass Generator up and running. Since the former does not rely on a fuel source (and since they can somehow work even when indoors/underground), they’re excellent for powering important base facilities like Securement Containers and refrigerators. If you’d rather not deal with refueling Biomass Generators and the low output of Solar Generators, use Hydraulic Generators instead and move your base near a body of water.
