The open world ofSatisfactoryis huge, and since not every resource can be found in just one place, players are expected to create logistics networks with vehicles in mind. There are a number of vehicles in the game, and while not all of them are meant to be driven around, players can definitely do so if they choose to.

Exploring the map on foot is going to be a chore, and connecting lines ofconveyor belts inSatisfactoryisn’t exactly recommended if the distance covers half the map. Vehicles will be needed to ensure good efficiency, and if you’re wondering what options are available, here’s a short guide covering all vehicles in the game, their unlock and research costs, as well as their intended uses.

How To Craft Vehicles In Satisfactory

The first thing players need to do before they can start building vehicles is tounlock them by progressing through HUB Tiers. Both the crafting specs and necessary materials needed to make vehicles are locked behind upgrades. Onetip for newSatisfactoryplayersis to always keep expanding your factory so you may upscale production and get to those advanced recipes quicker.

After unlocking a vehicle’s blueprints, players can craft them byentering Build mode and selecting the Transport tab. All vehicles and other forms of travel, such as Hypertubes, can be found here. Pick a vehicle you’d like to build, then place it like you would any other object.

A Tractor in Satisfactory

Tractor

Simple And Slow Factory Workhorse

The Tractor is a small, well-rounded vehicle for exploration and factory operations. It’s surprisingly fast for its appearance, and it can be automated to deliver materials to and from Truck Stations. Tractors have 25 inventory slots, and their small size makes them good for players who chooseSatisfactorystarting areaslike the forest and desert biomes, where some resource nodes are found in cramped spots.

Truck

For Large And Long Hauls

The Truck is the larger brother of the Tractor with 48 inventory slots instead of 25 and a higher maximum speed, making this one more suited for larger hauls over longer distances. However, it has poor handling, and its sheer size makes it difficult to work with when space is an issue. Also, players must first be able to craft materials likeMotors inSatisfactorybefore they can build this vehicle.

Explorer

Agile Dune Buggy

The Explorer is, as its name suggests, designed primarily for exploring the map. It is significantly faster than the Tractor and Truck, and noticeably more agile as well when it comes to making sharp turns or drifting. Apart from charting the map, the Explorer is best used for traveling between factories, as its small storage space of only 12 slots makes it less than ideal for automatically hauling cargo.

Aerial Delivery Bots

Drones are flying vehicles, and unlike all the others, these cannot be piloted manually. Drones must be built on Drone Ports, and their job is to carry materials from one port to another. You can stand on them as they take off, but it won’t take long before you get thrown off. Players who are looking for some means of aerial transport should use aJetpack inSatisfactoryinstead.

Maximum Speed And Carrying Capacity

Trains (or Electric Locomotives) are perhaps the most complicated of the vehicles inSatisfactory. While players can conduct them manually, they’ll need to learn how to setup railway networks and edit timetables if they want to automate the loading and unloading process. It’ll all be worth it, though, as Freight Cars can be attached to Electric Locomotives to let them 32 inventory slots' worth of items (or up to 1600 cubic meters worth of liquids).
