One of the major highlights of theRoads to PowerDLC forCrusader Kings 3is the opportunity to travel the map as a Landless Adventurer. Players can either do so at the start of the game with a historical figure or custom character or during the course of regular gameplay, they may find themselves deposed and on the road.
These adventurers play very differently from landed rulers, and players will find that many of thetraditional ways of getting rich inCK3don’t work. For example, there are no taxes to collect and, for the most part, gold won’t be generated through economic buildings. Therefore, players will need to discover new ways ofmaking money as a Landless AdventurerinRoads to Power.
Completing Contracts Is The Main Source Of Gold For Landless Adventurers In CK3
Contracts are the bread and butterof Landless Adventurer gameplay and theprimary form of income. There are a variety of contract types, and Adventurers should typically try to stick to the ones where their strength lies, as payment will only be received if successful.
By doing a better job, players may also be able to earn more money. There are alsohigher-tier Contractstypically offered by greater nobles.
Look for two or three-star Contracts as these will offer more money.
CertainCriminal Contracts also have higher payouts, at the cost of beingdisliked by everyonedue to the Gallowsbait Trait. When stealing from a treasury, for example, there may even be an option to push your luck and attempt to lootmore gold at the risk of being caught.

War Can Make Landless Adventurers Very Rich In CK3
While landed rulers can also make money during times of war if played right, it is often more of a drain on the coffers due to the expenses of keeping armies in the field. Landless Adventurers don’t have this problem as itcosts nothing to keep troops raised.
With investments into the military buildings at Camp and some ofthe best Martial Perks, it is also incredibly cheap to hire Men-at-Arms for Adventurers.
How Adventurers Can Get Even More Gold From Battles & Sieges
On top of no ongoing costs, there are also a few unique ways for Landless Adventurers to gain even more money from wars.
Drag out easy wars and even ransom prisoners who contribute to the war score, allowing for more battles, sieges, and ransoms. Adventurers don’t need to be as bothered about the outcome of wars.

Landless Adventurers can also go to war for their own claims, but this would not be to make money. They would become landed if successful.
