Power is a major concern in all stages ofSatisfactory. Getting enough electricity in the early game is fairly simple, but given how Biomass Burners are the only options players have early on, powering up a factory can be tedious.

Biomass Burners rely on burning organic materials like wood and leaves to generate electricity, and players will be able to take advantage of them regardless ofwhere they start inSatisfactory. They can be loaded by hand, but as always, automation should be the goal. Here’s a basic explanation on how to automate Biomass Burners as well as some sample layouts for biomass power plant setup.

How To Fuel Biomass Burners In Satisfactory

Satisfactory1.0 added input ports for Biomass Burners, allowing for semi-automation. Unfortunately, there is no way to automatically harvest biomass, which means players will need to load containers manually.

The Biomass Burner is going to be the player’s only means of generating power in the early game. As its name suggests, these machines need to be fed biomass in order to provide electricity for your factory.Trees inSatisfactoryare an important resource early on, and they do not respawn, making dry and arid regions harder to build on without access to other power generators.

Players can automate this fueling process bybuilding a Storage Container directly connected to a Biomass Burnervia conveyor belts. Wood, leaves, and mycelia can be converted into power by a Biomass Burner at varying rates.

Processed Biomass is much more efficient than just regular wood and leaves. Pictured above is a simple automatic Biomass Burner setup that automatically feeds processed Biomass into a generator. It is composed of the following:

The simple layouts mentioned previously can be further expanded using Conveyor Mergers, Conveyor Splitters, and an additional Constructor turning regular Biomass into Solid Biofuel. To maximize efficiency and to ensure both wood and leaves are put to use, expand the layout according to the following specifications:

As always, players will need to work with the space they have when planning layouts. Consider packing your Biomass Burner plant into a small, box-shaped layout or use Conveyor Lifts to take advantage of vertical space.

A single Solid Biofuel Constructor can support up to 12 Biomass Burners at a time, provided the Constructor’s Storage Containers are supplied with leaves and wood. Biomass Burners will eventually be replaced byCoal Generators inSatisfactorysince those can be fully automated while Biomass Burners require players to manually load resources into Storage Containers.
