Specifically, the PS5 has a GPU with 36 Compute Units, while the PS5 Pro’s GPU has 67% more, putting that number at around 60 Compute Units. The PS4, on the other hand, had a GPU with 18 Compute Units that was later upgraded in the PS4 Pro to have 36 Compute Units, making for a 100% increase between the two consoles.
The PS5 Pro’s RAM Speed Upgrade Is a Larger Increase Than the PS4 Pro’s
ThePS4 Pro’s GPU upgradesmay be more substantial than the PS5 Pro’s, but the PS5 Pro has the PS4 Pro beat in the upgrades made to its Memory Clock, or RAM speed. The PS4’s RAM speed is 1375 MHz and the PS4 Pro’s RAM speed is 1700 MHz, resulting in a 23% increase. However, whereas the PS5’s RAM speed is 1750 MHz, the PS5 Pro’s RAM speed is 28% faster, making it around 2,240 MHz. Along with the upgrades made to the PS5 Pro’s GPU Computing Units, this results in the upcoming console rendering images 45% faster than the standard PS5 is capable of, so players can experience smoother gameplay.
Despite the PS5 Pro’s 33% less substantial GPU upgrade, its 5% faster RAM speed may be a decent compensation.

In other words, no amount of relevance seems to justify purchasing an upgraded console that is $200 more than its base model, especially when the previous generation’s base and upgraded consoles had a matching price tag.
