SinceStar Wars Outlawsis heavily focused on the criminal underworld of the galaxy, the game whisks players away to some of the shadier planets littering the stars. Of course, Tatooine is one such planet that gets heavily focused on, as well asThe Rise of Skywalker’s Kijimi. But, along with those two,The Last Jedi’s casino planet Cantonica, home of Canto Bight, also gets its time in the spotlight. And although it may feel familiar to some,Star Wars Outlawshas shown players an entirely new side.
InThe Last Jedi, fans watched as Finn and Rose fought their way through the bright and shiny casinos that litter the planet’s surface. WhileStar Wars Outlawsalso shows them a bit of the gambling side of things, the real focus this time around seems to be on the Slums and the more residential areas. This not only helps set the scene for Kay Vess' story, but it also gives this planet a whole new feel, which helps make the planet stronger in the long run.
Star Wars Outlaws Takes Canto Bight in a Whole New Direction
The Last Jedi Showed Fans One Side of This Casino Planet
Star Warsintroduced fans to the planet of Cantonica throughthe eyes of Finn and Rose. In the film, they need to head to the casino city of Canto Bight to recruit a Master Codebreaker who will help them disable the First Order’s hyperspace tracker. However, they quickly get arrested for a traffic violation, thrown into prison, and things quickly fall apart as they attempt to escape alongside the slicer DJ. Shots are fired, a herd of fathiers is released, and the three of them steal a space yacht known as the Libertine.
Throughout all of this, fans are able to get a good look at justwhat goes on within Canto Bight. There are massive casinos filled with wealthy tourists, gamblers, and war profiteers all looking to make a quick buck. Aliens from all over the galaxy were present, engaged in all sorts of different classic gambling games. The walls were bright and shiny, the drinks seemed to be flowing, and everything about the planet screamed Las Vegas. It truly was a sight to behold, with many interested to see what else went on there. So,Star Wars Outlawshas delivered just that.
Star Wars Outlaws Has Shed More Light on Canto Bight
The very first planet that players see inStar Wars Outlawsis Cantonica. However, instead of having them explore the casinos of Canto Bight, they get to see the Slums. Here, the bright lights and shiny buildings are nowhere to be found. Instead, players get to see darker alleys, fog-filled clubs, worn-down buildings, and people just trying to make ends meet. It is an extremely different view of this planet, and it is fantastic to see.
The Last Jedimay have shown them the glamour, butStar Wars Outlawslets them see what it is like for the people who call it home. It makes it feel more lifelike, gives it far more character, and gives players even more context as to just what goes on within its city streets. And, it is made even better by the NPCs that they can interact with. So many stories waiting to be heard, characters waiting to be met, and adventures waiting to be embarked on.
Cantonica may be one of the more interesting planets introduced duringStar Wars' Sequel era. Having a casino planet in the galaxy far, far away just makes sense, and it is great that the franchise is exploring it further. While it remains to be seen what more Canto Bight can offerStar Wars, it is nice that fans got to see two of its contrasting sides. And hopefully, this is not the last time they get to.
