Star Warshas many iconic locations, but Tatooine’s Mos Eisley Spaceport is among the most notable. After its initial appearance inA New Hope, accompanied byObi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi’sheavily memed description of it as a “wretched hive of scum and villainy,” Mos Eisley is one of the most recognizable locations in theStar Warsgalaxy. In light of that, it makes sense why Massive Entertainment would need to include Tatooine and Mos Eisley inStar Wars Outlaws, as the game’s setting betweenEmpire Strikes BackandReturn of the Jedidemands it.

Since Mos Eisley’s appearance inA New Hope, it has been shown in several otherStar Warsmovies and TV shows. However,A New Hope’s depiction of Mos Eisley is still its most extensive, so it is the best example to use when analyzing the authenticity ofStar Wars Outlaws' adaptation of the famous spaceport. Fortunately, the comparisons are easy to make, asStar Wars Outlaws' Mos Eisley is almost a 1:1 recreation of the original, despite expounding on it to improve the overall gameplay experience.

How Star Wars Outlaws' Mos Eisley Stacks Up Against the Original

Star Wars Outlaws' Mos Eisley Is a Nearly 1:1 Recreation of What Is Shown in A New Hope

Upon visiting Mos Eisley inStar Wars Outlaws,Star Warsfans who have been with the franchise from its humble beginnings should immediately feel at home. The most memorable parts of Mos Eisley can be seen and visited inStar Wars Outlaws, like the crashed Dowager Queen, the Ubrikkian Trade Tower, andChalmun’s Cantina. The cantina is the place fans are likely most familiar with, so they will be pleased to know it is nearly identical to what is shown in the movie. This version of Mos Eisley is also filled with Dewbacks, Banthas, and Scurriers — just a few of the creatures seen roaming the spaceport inA New Hope.

Star Wars Outlaws' Mos Eisley Is Much Larger and Denser Than What Has Been Shown in the Movies

The most obvious difference betweenStar Wars Outlaws' Mos Eisleyand the one shown inA New Hopeis that the game’s version of the spaceport is much larger and denser than what is shown in the movie. Of course, this makes complete sense, as the full scope of Mos Eisley is never revealed inA New Hope, and if Massive were to limit what players can explore to what is shown in the movie, it wouldn’t be all that exciting. Nevertheless, if players thought Mos Eisley merely looked large in the film, they’ll find it feels even larger inStar Wars Outlaws.

Star Wars Outlawsuses the movie’s depiction of Mos Eisley as a starting point more than anything to provide players with plenty of ground to cover as they explore the spaceport. The game’s version of Mos Eisley is packed with maze-like corridors that lead to bustling locations like the Bazaar and the Gambler’s District, where players can find plenty of items to collect and NPCs to converse with. WhileStar Wars Outlaws' Mos Eisley is indeed massive, it doesn’t allow players to explore its entirety, with paths leading deeper into the spaceport frequently blocked off by broken-down Landspeeders andStormtrooper units.

The streets ofStar Wars Outlaws' Mos Eisley feel far more crowded than they look in the film, as Luke, Obi-Wan, and the droids are able to cruise on through via Landspeeder, and it seems like that would be impossible to do in the game. However, this was likely done on purpose to justify it as a “Speeder Restricted Area.” Despite these restrictions, the game does an excellent job of recreating such an iconic location, making it just another part ofStar Wars Outlaws' authenticStar Warsexperience.
