Summary

There are plenty of things to do inHogwarts Legacy, from attending class in the iconic Hogwarts Castle to exploring the charming village of Hogsmeade. Avalanche Software has also ensured players have plenty of ground to cover inHogwarts Legacy’s sizable open world, to the point that it can even feel overwhelming at times. One rather cozy activity inHogwarts Legacyis far unlike the rest, providing players with a relaxing escape from the rest of the game’s opportunities, and it can be found shortly after playersunlock the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts.

As players explore the world ofHogwarts Legacy, they will likely encounter its many fantastic beasts — like Puffskeins, Fwoopers, and even Unicorns. Should players choose to rescue these beasts upon encountering them, they can then be brought back to the Room of Requirement to live comfortably in one of its unique Vivariums. Inside each Vivarium, players are then able to care for their beasts and even decorate their new homes with unique items and custom structures. It’s one ofHogwarts Legacy’s best features, despite arguably not receiving the attention it deserves. However, perhaps a full-on spin-off featuring this and much more would do it justice, as well as expound upon the foundation it has laid in the gaming Wizarding World ofHarry Potter.

Hogwarts Legacy’s Vivarium Feature Could Be the Blueprint for a Standalone Spin-Off

Hogwarts Legacy’s Beast-Rescuing and Vivarium Feature Is Held Back by Limitations

WhileHogwarts Legacy’s beast-rescuingand Vivarium activity is already worlds of cozy fun, it is held back by plenty of limitations that a full spin-off title wouldn’t need to be. Firstly, there are only 13 beasts players can find inHogwarts Legacy, despiteHarry Potterlore indicating there are well over 100 in its magical universe.Hogwarts Legacydoes include a variety of colors for each beast, but its limited number of species is quickly noticeable once players begin encountering the same beasts everywhere they go.

Secondly,Hogwarts Legacy’s Vivariums can only house 4 unique species at a time, despite allowing up to 12 individual beasts. There aremultiple Vivariums, each with a unique biome, but some players may prefer one biome over another and therefore be disappointed to discover that they can’t devote all their resources to it. Finally, constructing anything in a Vivarium is perhaps the worst part of it all, as there are not only restrictions placed on how much players can build but the building feature itself is also held back by any finished project looking more like a makeshift playhouse due to irritating gaps between pieces and stairs that can’t go anywhere.

Hogwarts Legacy Could Transform Its Vivarium Feature Into a Harry Potter-Themed Cozy Game

While it’s likelythe nextHogwarts Legacygamewill include the beast-rescuing and Vivarium feature of its predecessor, it will still be unable to accomplish much more than that due to it being merely a side activity. As such, a cozy spin-off title that usesHogwarts Legacy’s Vivariums as its backbone is in order. A full spin-off could expound on this underrated feature by allowing players to capture even more beasts in an experience similar toPokemon, along with having nearly unlimited control over the world’s design and the infrastructure within it.

Something akin toAnimal CrossingorLike a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s Dondoko Islandwould fit the groundwork laid byHogwarts Legacy’s Vivariums nicely. Perhaps players would be allowed to design quaint villages for their beasts or even create large towns for the human inhabitants of the Wizarding World. There is far too much potential inHogwarts Legacy’s beast-rescuing and Vivarium activity for it to be underutilized, and a full-fledged cozy spin-off might do the trick.
