There is a new teaser trailer forThe Last of Usseason 2, the highly anticipated new season of the hit HBO adaptation of the hugely popular game.According toThe Hollywood Reporter, HBO has also shared three posters, and the trailer confirms a time jump for the main characters.

The Last of Usseason 2 is set five years in the future and also features new characters. Catherine O’Hara will appear, along withKaitlyn Dever, who is playing Abby. While fans are still waiting to find outwhich plotlines will occur in the second season, it’s fun to see O’Hara, a beloved actress praised for roles in projects such asSchitt’s Creek, Home Alone, andBeetlejuice.

According toThe Hollywood Reporter,The Last Of Usseason 2 official description reads:

“After five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”

Other new characters are Isaac (Jeffrey Wright), Owen (Spencer Lord), Manny (Danny Ramirez), Nora (Tati Gabrielle), Mel (Ariela Barer), Jesse (Young Mazino), and Dina (Isabela Merced).

While many believeThe Last of Usepisode “Long, Long Time” was the best, season 2 looks like it will be just as great.

The beautifully crafted trailer, which uses the Pearl Jam song “Future Days,” shows a brief moment of happiness between Joel and Ellie as they navigate this new, dark, and scary reality.The trailer also teases some violent scenes and moments of uncertainty, along with some freezing cold winter weather.

While the exact release date is uncertain,Deadlinereported thatThe Last of Usseason 2 will air in 2025.Casey Bloys, the head of HBO, told the publication that the season would start filming at the beginning of 2024. All nine episodes ofThe Last of Usseason 1 aired from January to March 2023. Due to the summer 2023 WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike, there is likely more of a delay between both seasons than there typically would be. In the meantime, fans are wonderinghowThe Last of Usseason 2 will tell Joel’s storysince some big moments happen in the game. Time will tell how closely the adaptation sticks to the story that fans know and love, but from this teaser trailer, it looks like it will be epic.
