In fact, it turned out to be a loss, as a recent post on theGTA Onlinesubreddit from user Competitive_Divide59 shows the player receiving a$-1 payouton their Cayo Perico run. That isn’t a typo, the player did in fact get a negative payout for the heist, which means they came out on the other side one dollar poorer.
GTA Online Player Effectively Charged $1 to Complete Cayo Perico Heist Run
Even though it’s possible tocomplete the Cayo Perico heist in as little as 12 minutes, a payout of $-1 feels very much like a prank played by a modder. Competitive_Divide59 did clarify that they faced this issue on the console version ofGTA Online, so it’s most likelya bugged payoutthat can be rectified by contacting Rockstar Support. Although the player may be feeling shortchanged, the situation did give rise to a lot of amusing comments. One person said that Mr. Rubio (the Cayo Perico Heist’s primary target) finally went bankrupt, and another commenter joked that Competitive_Divide59 dropped their wallet during the heist run.
Competitive_Divide59’s negative Cayo Perico payout is a highly unique instance inGTA Onlinethat’s equal parts unfortunate and hilarious. More importantly, however, it proves thatGTA Onlinestill has a very healthy and active player base that’s largely unfazed by the game’s age and various quirks. It remains to be seen how much of a leapGTA 6’s online modewill be, but one can only hope that players won’t be reporting outright losses from missions.
