Summary
At this point, it’s verging on comical more than worrisome that aGhost of Tsushimasequel has yet to be announced. After all, it makes more sense to assume aGhost of Tsushimasequel is in development than to assume the opposite is true, as the massive success of the first game and the numerous rumors and leaks surrounding the development of a sequel all but confirm its existence.Ghost of Tsushimasurprised the gaming community with its breathtaking visuals, engaging combat, and satisfying stealth mechanics, and its arrival duringthe initial COVID-19 outbreakonly helped it soar to success. As such, Sucker Punch would be leaving money on the table not to move forward with a sequel.
Despite the extreme likelihood that aGhost of Tsushimasequel is in development, it still can’t afford to continue keeping its fans in limbo. EvenBorderlandsknew when to admit that the jig was up and recently decided to announceBorderlands 4, much to the excitement of fans. In the same way, it’s high timeGhost of Tsushima’s sequel confirms what everyone is already assuming anyway, especially in light of the first game’s inclusion in the upcoming anthology seriesSecret Level.
It’s Time for Ghost of Tsushima’s Sequel to Show Itself
Ghost of Tsushima 2 Has Been a Long Time Coming
It has now been a little over four years since the release ofGhost of Tsushima, meaning a sequel reveal has been a long time coming. That wait has felt even longer with the various rumors and leaks that have surfaced concerning a potential sequel, and it all began with a job posting that was discovered just a few months afterGhost of Tsushima’s initial launch. Since then, other rumors and reported leaks have circulated, suggesting aGhost of Tsushimasequel could be revealed at any moment.
Unfortunately, even after four years' worth of seemingly credible sources leaking an impendingGhost of Tsushimasequel reveal, nothing has come of it. There have even been several opportunities in the last couple of years for aGhost of Tsushima 2reveal, including various PlayStation showcases. However, Sucker Punch never jumped on those opportunities for some reason only the developer knows, assuming the sequel is indeed in development. There is one other variable to consider, which comes back to anannouncement Sony made earlier this yearthat it would not be releasing any major existing franchises before April 2025. That doesn’t mean a reveal is out of the question though.
The Release of Secret Level Is the Perfect Time for a Ghost of Tsushima 2 Reveal
Around a month ago, Amazon Prime Video released ateaser trailer for Tim Miller’sSecret Level, an animated anthology series set in the world of a variety of different video games. WhileGhost of Tsushimaisn’t included in the list of games shown at the end of the trailer, there is a split-second image of Jin Sakai that is very easy to miss. In light of that,Ghost of Tsushimamay receive an episode in the series, or at least a cameo. If that turns out to be true, there is no reasonGhost of Tsushima 2should pass up what could be yet another opportunity for a big reveal.
WithSecret Levelpremiering on December 10 and Sony’s announcement that it would not be releasing any major existing franchise before April 2025, December would be the perfect time for aGhost of Tsushima 2announcement, followed by an April 2025 release. It’s high timeGhost of Tsushima 2takes advantage of one of these valuable opportunities and reveals itself for once. The fans have now waited long enough for a confirmation of some kind, soGhost of Tsushima 2can’t afford to beat around the bush much longer.
