Summary
As the number of characters and signature weapons continues to grow, manyGenshin Impactplayers believe that it’s time to remove the timegating of developmental materials. Over the course of its history,Genshin Impacthas quadrupled its cast of characters, and expanded the world of Teyvat beyond the borders of Liyue and Mondstadt. Every new region came with its own set of domains – some for Artifacts, others for Weapons and Talents. Whereas the former was always available for players to farm, the latter rotated around three different materials on a daily basis.
While this was easy to manage when players only had to deal with two or three regions, the playable map of Teyvat now includes six. In effect, this puts the number of talent and weapon materials in rotation at eighteen. As players are now expected to mix and matchGenshin Impactcharactersfrom different corners of the world, the list of required materials has gotten similarly complex. Whereas splitting them into a rotation made sense in Version 1.0, theGenshin Impactcommunity feels that it’s time for the developers to revisit the mechanic.
A thread was opened on theGenshin Impactsubreddit by IgnisXIII, who put forward the idea of retiring the material rotation. Considering how manyquality-of-life changes came toGenshin Impactin the past couple of updates, removing the material rotation is no longer a far-fetched suggestion. The Original Resin cap was recently raised, and Genshin Impact players can even craft their own Artifacts. While building teams can still take a lot of effort, the developers seem open to the idea of giving players more freedom on how to engage with the repetitive aspects ofGenshin Impact.
It May Be Time to Retire Daily Material Rotations in Genshin Impact
The sentiment of removing daily material rotations is echoed strongly in theGenshin Impactcommunity, as many fans believe the mechanic is more annoying than helpful in staggering out the grind. Even the team at HoYoverse is aware of the issue, as Stellar Reunion allows returning players inGenshin Impactto circumvent the rotation, and farm whichever materials they need. While there is a chance that ascension materials receive an overhaul during the Natlan era, it’s far more likely that the developers will hold off on any radical change until the release ofSnezhnaya inGenshin Impact.
As for the immediate future, Xilonen is set to debut on theEvent Banners for Version 5.1 ofGenshin Impact, and players can farm her ascension materials well in advance. By contrast, Chasca, Mavuika, and Citlalli will all demand new materials when they launch in the two updates afterward. Version 5.1 is expected to be released on July 04, 2025.
