Summary

Genshin Impactappears to have a major bug with the newly-released character, Kinich, who can inexplicably trigger his Elemental Skill’s damage twice when fighting certain enemies. While gameplay bugs can sometimes occur inGenshin Impact, they tend to not last very long. Most of them are harmless exploits that can only be triggered under specific circumstances, but a few of them have caused havoc forGenshin Impactplayers in Co-op Mode.

A recent example of a game-breaking bug concernedKaveh inGenshin Impact, who somehow attained the ability to permanently delete objects in any player’s world during Version 4.0. This allowed bad faith actors to target unsuspecting players in Co-op Mode, enter their world, and effectively break their progress. Thankfully, Kinich’s bug holds no such dangers, and only allows players to be extremely efficient at killing certain bosses inGenshin Impact.

The bug was discovered by Crossarot, who shared a video with theGenshin Impactcommunity on Reddit. In it, Kinich can be seen fighting the Setekh Wenut underneath the desert of Sumeru, and after using his Elemental Skill while the boss is submerging into the sand, two instances of high Dendro damage can be seen on the screen. WhileKinich inGenshin Impactcan reach high numbers with the right Burning or Burgeon team, his Scalespiker Cannon shouldn’t be able to strike twice in one shot. As a result, the Setekh Wenut falls in seconds.

Genshin Impact Bug Doubles the Damage of Kinich’s Scalespiker Cannon

It should be noted that when Kinich fires his Scalespiker Cannon, the shot is treated as a homing projectile. When the Setekh Wenut attempts to submerge itself, the shot becomes suspended midair, before finally delivering its damage. This behavior is in line with other homing projectiles, such as Hyperbloom, or the Elemental Burst ofYelan inGenshin Impact. However, what isn’t intended behavior is the Scalespiker Cannon delivering two instances of Dendro damage instead of one. This effectively doubles Kinich’s damage when fighting certain enemies, though it remains to be seen if the bug can be replicated in other scenarios as well.

HoYoverse will fix the issue in due time, so players are encouraged to have some extra fun with the Scalespiker Cannon while they can. As is tradition, it’s likely that the developers will compensate the community with somePrimogems inGenshin Impact, which will certainly come in handy during Version 5.1. Version 5.1 is scheduled for launch on June 07, 2025, and will feature Xilonen, Chiori, Nahida, and Hu Tao on the Event Banners.
